Dylan Grimes JDM

Grimes best man on the ground. Spent most of his time laying on the ground after a man on man contest.

That chase was awful. Blew up after 20 metres. With the lack of body development and lack of fitness, does he work hard enough in pre season?

Has gone backwards. A worry.

Yep he was cooked.

Disagree. But that is just a difference of opinion. A real liability out there at the moment. Cruelled by injury? Maybe time will aid him, but he was part of the problem tonight.

No doubt. But the season is shot so let's do what we have to do to make some informed decisions at the end of the year

Fair enough. It could be lack of match fitness. I was all ready to delist Rance a few years ago, so why not find out if Grimes has it in him to take the next step. He showed plenty in his first dozen games after all.

has massive upside...before injury this kid was looking awesome..and is far from disgraced this year...

Never was a fan and after tonight I want him gone.
A skinny bloke that can't run, spends more time on his ass then Morris

He had several foot races on the night. Not only couldn't he keep up he also tired during each of them. Dylan Grimes can't keep up?

Crippled with injury but played each week by the new Terence Wallace.

So much potential at the start, cruelled by injury, seems outpaced, goes to ground too much, what's the future? Season's end decision, but has to show more to in the remaining games to stay.

Really I think plenty to go well before him. Agree he hasn't been up to speed this year but no danger of being delisted I would t have thought

Fair assessment.
Hopefully he can show us what he promised in those early days - but there's a chance it might not happen.

This is part physical as he's never quite regained his speed/agility since the hamstring operation and part confidence to attack the ball (as he used to).

Need to keep trying with him & make him run & create from down back.

Another average and limited RFC footballer. Skinny, lacks strength, not quick, poor disposal, poor footy brain, lacks composure, too easily beaten in contests.

Never got the hype about him in the first place. Too small for a key position, not good enough at ground level for the flanks.

He can look forward to a nice long career at RFC with a very comfortable living but no or very few finals.

There was a moment were him and Goodes were standing next to each other.
Grimes looked like a stick insect.

His scenario is a similar one to Foley in that his pace and athleticism (for Foley it was pace and explosiveness) were the key attributes that gave him a competitive advantage over his opponent. He usually played on a 3rd tall where he could nullify them in the air and burn them on the ground but he had the flexibility to play on a small and he could nullify the ground threat and his height allowed him to burn them in a marking option.

With his legs struggling he has lost the attributes that he needs at this level because his other attributes are just standard, nothing special.

If his legs are going to be OK in the long term and he just needs another big pre-season then there is nothing to worry about at this stage, his current form is actually expected and the experience is good for him as long as he doesn't lose confidence and is realistic about how things will turn around for him once the body gets back to where it needs to be.

The difference with Grimes and Foley though is Grimes issues started a lot younger and he has less trade value than Foley did.

Definite keeper if the legs just need time.

Defensively still good I reckon, and can still play tall or short.
Offensively he is ok when he gets it. He just doesn't get it enough.

If he spends time in the VFL this year they should play him either loose down back or on the wing and tell him to get involved and get the ball

I think confidence is his biggest issue.

Trade him. Watch him week after week. No flair whatsoever. Did you see him trying to chase down Goodes last week. That made me as a Tiger faithful cringe. Successful coaches makes tough calls. Can you imagine Lyons putting up with the utter crap Grimes serves up week after week. Grimes is a very talented footballer & played back since day one. I hate bucketing young Tigers. Time to move him forward & see if he can produce.
