Dylan Grimes JDM

Exactly, I just watched it 6 times and he definitely gets a push. It might not be much but to say he staged it 100% is laughable. He looks to lose his balance as he realizes the ball is falling shorter than expected & does what most people do when that happens - looked bloody clumsy.

To say it was a 100% dive is a joke. Why would he have chosen to do that when he would have otherwise be able to compete in the contest, unless he lost his balance and couldn't stop his own forward motion? If it wasnt a push, it was him misjudging the play, losing his balance as he tried to change his point of contact & stumbling forward. Otherwise he was 100% going to be involved in that marking contest.

He never even pleaded for a bloody free kick.

I find it reprehensible that he has received death threats for this & the AFL are fining him & basically saying - yeah he is guilty of cheating. Certainly not conclusive. Way to encourage the online troll abuse, threats and continued bullying AFL.

I *smile* hope our boys can draw on this very obvious attempt to discredit our club and just come out and *smile* win this flag anyway. I really haven;'t been overly interested or invested in us winning it as i thought several other teams looked better. But *smile* i want them to get it together now and just smash their opponents to a point where its impossible even for the AFL to cheat them out of it. Seriously, what have we done to make ourselves this despised to the AFL? Have i missed something??

We are getting the Grant Thomas treatment, bigtime
And he then threw the arm up towards the flight of the ball in a last ditch effort to impact the contest - because he never gives up

I haven't written here for a bit but not sure, is this the best way to say (from afl.com.au )

'Grimes said his decision to escalate the abuse was in order to protect his family. '

I'm not sure what was sent to Dylan and I know there are some lowlifes out there. I wonder if ISO is getting to some people more than usual? I feel for any abuse sufferers out there that cannot get away from their abusers, save for an hour, if they are lucky...

On Ch 9 news on staging...Danger said he didnt think it had got worse and won't get on his high horse about it and admitted he was not immune from doing it in the past. Then they showed his dive fwd in the PF last year. About time and good on him for coming clean.

I imagine a lot of the abuse also stems from gambling losses. We've seen it highlighted slightly recently, but I imagine there would be bigger cases with losses from people with more on the line (than they can probably afford).

Don't think iso is the cause....think players are just getting sick of the crap dished up at them.

I would suggest he is allergic to it as opposed to being "not immune"...

Court date of May 2021 (so 9 months away). By then it will be out of the media spotlight and he will no doubt just receive a slap on the wrist (if anything at all).

Hopefully this at least makes other peanuts think twice about doing something similar to the players. Disgraceful.
Hopefully by then we can all travel more than 5km to observe this fool. (Half of us will have the time through unemployment but may need a travel voucher.)

I'm so proud of Dylan for calling out the low life who threatened him and his family.
Callum Ward received a death threat a few weeks back.......and the common denominator it was an Essendon supporter too.

It probably warrants a new thread, but I find Essendon fans to be the worst of all the other teams supporters. Jumped up, self entitled upstarts.

I was on the back flank and definitely thought he was pushed. It was hard to tell from where I was sitting but the replay footage they showed did not include the actual contact to his back, only his fall. They had him guilty and sentenced to a firing squad without any clear footage at all. I am glad he is appealing.

at the game I have never heard such booing in Darwin. I was making a few loud references to drug cheating etc to settle em down.

Good on Max Gawn..... reckons it was momentum from the Stringer push which had Grimes going forward!

Not so much Treloar. ... says he's never staged..... wish they'd asked if he's ever chucked!

Geez, the AFL should sack their so-called journos, how did Grimes escalate this? He reported a serious incident, that's not escalating unless you want to be sensationalist. From the tabloid media this would just be an irritant, from the game's governing body this is an embarrassment.

They get more amateur by the minute.

I think that’s “escalate” in the sense of referring it up the chain. Like when I ring up with a complaint about something and the person that I’m talking to is as useless as tits on a bill, then it gets escalated to their supervisor.

I thought he staged a few years back when he said he was coming to the RFC...

I actually didn't mind what Danger had to say. Didn't criticise any player, said it's been going on in sports forever, and there's no need for heavier penalties. He played it down overall.

But happened to hear a little of 3AW Sports Show after 6pm. Healy was on with Sam McClure and Leigh Matthews too. Healey seemed to be back-tracking at a rate of knots from the slant he had taken over the Lynch fiasco, unless my memory is fading, post-match or in other commentary. While Matthews basically said that it was one of the most ridiculous charges ever, no way worthy of suspension, and wasted everyone's time. Etc. etc.

Then, lo and behold, Michael Hurley called in. Not sure if spontaneous or was set up/organised. But he clearly wanted to say that he had exaggerated the contact to get the umps' attention, a free or whatever, and that he was glad TL got off. Said he was constrained from coming out and saying anything yesterday although he wanted to.
Finally, Benny Gale came on and was really strong on the police actions over threats on Grimes; defended our players really well too.

Apologies if anyone has already posted same but just came back on here. You might be able to catch Benny at least on the 3AW site here:

Forgot one thing. MCLure claimed that behind-the-goal vision gave the incident a whole different context which Benny reiterated too, saying that there was no public access to this vision often, that clubs obtain.

Although the us against them is fun, I;m glad there has been a public and media shift in the last 24 hours with less ridicule and slander being aimed at the RFC. Many media types are back peddling (except Ralph who double down on twitter today and copped his right whack) and the ludicrousmess of the Lynch charge and Vlastuin and Grimes fines have been exposed.

Lets not be one eyed on this. I love Grimes more then any other player at the club (besides castagna) but,
He needs to stop with the arms going everywhere, when someone bumps him.
In all 3 incidents with hipwood, Richards and mudguts, his arms go out like he is about to take off.
It isn't a good look.
I don't want him to be remembered for this shiit, but the champion defender he is.

So there's no public access to the vision of the incident, this would apply to a lot of incidents.
The ambulance chasing media have the vision, but chose not to show it because they want to whip the punters into a frenzy.
Now that Dylan has challenged it, they come out with.......the behind the goal vision shows it in a different light.
The muck racking media need to be called out on this.
