Dylan Grimes JDM

I imagine a lot of the abuse also stems from gambling losses. We've seen it highlighted slightly recently, but I imagine there would be bigger cases with losses from people with more on the line (than they can probably afford).

the 20-somethings in the crowd now whinging

'oh, Bolton just cost me $40 passing that off'

drives me nuts

I hear it constantly. Aside from the obviously issues,

these young *smile* just dont understand any punting etiquette at all

and yeah I agree scones, this essedrugs moron would have had $100 on tipanwuti to kick a goal with the AFL's partner, *smile* Bet

No doubt sconies, from someone who was a gambling addict it gives them no excuse whatsoever to have wasted there money on a bet that didn’t go there way, swings and roundabouts with that stuff.
I may be on my own here , however I don’t think fines or banning these cowards is enough , definite jail time and not your holiday retreat jail ,put them in with the scum of society because that is exactly what they are. Social media is huge in society it needs to be a somewhat safe place . I’ve always thought you shouldn’t say something unless you would be prepared to say it in person.

fry the bastards

No doubt why the Grimes guy was released on bail until May, cops assessed that he was all talk.

Having said that I knew a bloke who was charged with making threats via a carriage service many years ago and if the cops hadn't been called, his ex-boss might've been in trouble...

How do the clubs have access to behind the goal footage, but not the MRO?

I assume they must base the charges on Twitter gifs.

So there's no public access to the vision of the incident, this would apply to a lot of incidents.
The ambulance chasing media have the vision, but chose not to show it because they want to whip the punters into a frenzy.
Now that Dylan has challenged it, they come out with.......the behind the goal vision shows it in a different light.
The muck racking media need to be called out on this.

The new age click bait media dont really care about accuracy , a good story is the one that gets the most attention

...
Then, low and behold, Michael Hurley called in. Not sure if spontaneous or was set up/organised. But he clearly wanted to say that he had exaggerated the contact to get the umps' attention, a free or whatever, and that he was glad TL got off. Said he was constrained from coming out and saying anything yesterday although he wanted to.
Finally, Benny Gale came on and was really strong on the police actions over threats on Grimes; defended our players really well too.
...
Well thats great to hear.
Then what Caro said was true (post I put up yesterday after FC show) he wanted to do the right thing but Essendon stopped him. Essedrugs as it will be always known to me are a pathetic club with such attitude but not surprised. Whats new??
Then thinking of info they "might" have hidden (opps apparently lost) from the drug scandal too imo.

My view of Hurley has gone up, my view of the bummers has gone in the opposite direction

Glad Grimes called it out.
Glad the police reacted.
Hope the person gets jail but with the hearing being I think May ? next year with time served ( if in jail already ? ) that will be it.
At least he can’t act on his threats.

In my working life I’ve encountered both threats over the phone & face to face threats to kill , do something to my family & ‘ I will wait for you after work/know where you work ‘.

I’ve been vilified and have resorted to ‘other’ measures as words back didn’t work.

Most times ( nearly all ) work has never supported me , brought the police in so I’ve had to take measures in my hands.

These people need to be held to account.
A rap on the knuckles isn’t enough.
Taking away their memberships isn’t enough.
Banning them from the arenas.
Racism & vilification needs addressing.
Don’t think the AFL is doing enough or is serious enough.
It has improved yes from the days when I use to go to the football or my younger years having to deal with racism .

So I applaud Grimes.
I applaud Betts.
I applaud Chol and so many others.

At the end of the day ‘ it’s just a game’.

Betting may play a part in society’s reactions.
So do other factors.

To accept this behaviour, tolerate it, brush it under the carpet isn’t enough.

This exactly why I hate these internet trolls so much LTRTR , it’s not weather there taking the *smile* or not, it’s what effect it has on the person thier cowardly abusing/ intimidating , Im sure non of us would want to be stuck away from our loved ones when ” threats “ of harm are aimed at them , be shithouse feel knowing you can’t even lock the door

Well said . No doubt some of the made up stuff has ended causing great grief to players and coaches .

Its sad that they don’t seem to cop anything back when thier wrong either. Good on Sam Mclure for saying he was wrong the other week, that’s where I lose respect for Jounos, never wrong and believe their opinion is gospel. I like Caro but it’s the one thing that lets her creditbilty Down in my Very humble opinion

He would have access to it, whether he uses it is another story

The fine was relatively small, $500. Makes you wonder if they gave them a fine to keep the media & social media frenzy happy, but low enough hoping the club doesn't challenge.

This could be a very bad weekend for the MRO

Yeah when he's separated from the family he has no choice but to report it. Hopefully the cops have set his mind at ease.

In a way it's to be expected - people trapped in their homes, probably doing their nuts on the punt and no outlet to vent except social media. Not an excuse, obviously.

Im not all around whose job it is to lay the MRP decisions, but he should be *smile* sacked. 3 players all charged & all eventually dismissed. Total waste of time & resources in a year where could people were made redundant.

I reckon all the MRP, tribunal etc should be elected by vote of the clubs, not the AFL. They seem borderline corrupt this season

It was all media driven.
