Dylan Grimes JDM

Spot on. Online banter is one thing. Direct threats to players and their families is a criminal matter that is not acceptable in any way shape or form
I was thinking after the Twitter blowup, that Grimma has the added issue of people knowing the vineyard he owns and lives at.

Surely enough doubt there that he gets off.
It makes no sense for a defender to dive in that situation hoping to win a free kick. Taking himself out of the contest in the vague hope he gets a free for a push is the low percentage play. He would easily have killed that ball if not shoved/tripped.

Hopefully that puts an end to any more physical or verbal SM threats. Appalling.
I can't help but feel the AFL's hypocritical selectivity on staging instances is at least partly to blame. Well-documented here on PRE.

Good.

When the peanut gets the full media glare on his day in court it might make others think twice before shooting their online mouth off.
Court date of May 2021 (so 9 months away). By then it will be out of the media spotlight and he will no doubt just receive a slap on the wrist (if anything at all).

Hopefully this at least makes other peanuts think twice about doing something similar to the players. Disgraceful.

My 11y.o watched it for the first time with fresh eyes - straight away said he was making a last attempt to punch the ball.
I watched it back and sure enough, in typical Grimes fashion, he throws that back arm up toward the flight of the ball.
What a disgraceful slur this whole episode is - and Vlaustins even worse.
And my God I just saw Rankins and Port bloke’s ones. What a farce the AFL are

Agree. It only takes this sort of unrelenting, unjust and targeted campaigning from media outlets that feeds the twisted minds of ferals amongst our community to elicit a knucklehead response.

Perhaps the identity of this individual will somehow be revealed and he subsequently receives a visit from some of the Grog Squad’s finest :p ;)

Happened too quick to see much in real time but in slowmo he is pushed forward but still tries to reach up with his right arm to reach the incoming ball to spoil a possible Bombers mark. That reaching up action looks like a bit of mayo on the push but perhaps it wasn't. What a magnificent defender, never gives up.
Hope the fine gets thrown out in the review tonight, along with Flossy's.

The AFL Media clearly need a code of conduct that if you breach means your accreditation is revoked. The relentless pursuit of players and clubs simply to satisfy their own egos and justify their opinions is disgusting. They need to be held to account and they have clearly had a significant role in the public persecution of Lynch, Grimes and the Cotchin's so far this year.

One line that sticks out in that article from The Age.

"Making threat to commit sexual offence and other charges."

Christ, what were they saying about his partner.
And why bailed until May 2021?
is the Victorian court system overloaded to that extent?
Justice delayed is justice denied and prolongs the suffering of victims.
The perpetrator has threatened violence, intentional or specious.

Certainly would be a great start

Alas Tass, that’s not much better than what the other guy probably said... we are above that

Unfortunately it's not only the media.
Worsfold made a big deal about the Grimes incident post match and prior to the media maggots getting hold of it. It's more likely that the low life who threatened Grimes and his family acted after being inspired by Worsfold.
Will be interesting to see Essendon's reaction to this if the offender is shown to be a paid up member.
