Dustin Martin

The Tigers do well out on the field this season and Martin will stay. The Tigers have a crap season <artin will most likely seek new environs for the remainder of his career.

Hawks, with more elder retirements this year would have cap space for Dusty

But they will not have the draft picks for when we match any deal they throw up.

Is it the Hawks who have to trade back into the first round this year as part of the AFL deal to allow them to bid for O'Meara and Mitchell?

Matching deals doesn't really happen. The ability to match a deal is more to force the receiving club into trading rather than RFAing. Especially with big name players. If Adelaide didn't match Geelong's deal for Clangerfield then it's a fair bet it will rarely be used. Then you have the puppet masters behind the scenes telling the two clubs to play nice and come to a fair trade.,

I think you're on the money here. I don't think $100K here or there is going to be the big driver for Martin. What's it really worth once the government takes their piece of the pie? I think our on-field performance will heavily factor in Martin's decision to stay or not.

I don't want Dusty to go, but if we got those two draft picks from Saints we could be a positon to blitz this draft the way Gold Coast did last year and kickstart a proper rebuild. Plus we would have the cap space to pick up a decent free agent, though I amnot sure who is available.

Dusty in 2017 is going to to be Maxted with Gawn at the Dees. Got a bucket load of dough & on the up not the down.

Yes please explain , not all of us talk jive.

I believe Dusty wants to stay but is also trying to get the best coin from the club as possible. Last time he shopped himself around he went to one of the expansion clubs, was it GWS and saw their facilities. All throughout that, he spoke about how much he loved it at Tigerland. They wondered why they were wasting their time.

I personally am not too fussed either way. I like Dusty and prefer he stays at the club but think he is overrated. He can do some amazing things, but often gets simple things wrong. He is great at long passes, but often butches the ball when he has to do a simple 30m pass, even when he has time to dispose of the ball. Games against North Melbourne come to mind here. Perhaps with the new recruits, we can afford to play him more in the forward line, so we won't have to worry so much about that costly butchered 30m pass right in the middle of the ground.

Martin for Fyfe or Martin for two top ten first rounders and a player

We wont get that

Probably 2 first rounders and that will depend on where he goes.

e.g stkilda finish 8th #12 + what they already have from last year

First rounders or fyfe et al. Currently we have Dusty reckon its a 90 - 10 probability. Out of all the scenarios listed I would take dusty. This bloke is going to explode.

RFA will get a first and a third at best, absolute best...

IMO Dusty will stay, i think depending on the situation will depend on the coin he suggests/demands

Was talking to a Geelong supporter the other day and despite Dangerfield's stellar year, all this bloke wanted to talk about was Dusty......I suspect he is rated by a lot of opposition supporters as THE player in the comp coming into this season. Hope he stays with us, but will have a huge price on his head.
