I reckon Martin wants to stay while Carr wants the money. He'll advise waiting for firm offers from other clubs and use them to either leverage Richmond or convince Martin to move.

Martin won't enhance his reputation in the footy world if he moves.
 
Interesting the conversation has changed from looking for success to money.
I personally think the journos are getting little bit desperate because

1. They haven't got a clue what's going on
2. The decision was always going to come after the season.

RFC will have to increase its offer but we can't just offer a rediculous amount .

Either he wants to stay with club that did so much for him or he chances the $.

That often ends badly when players chase the $.
 
If he stays good, if he goes so be it. The club shouldn't be held to ransom by anyone.
If he goes to North then he'd better get used to playing in front of 2 & a dog.

Frankly I think he'll stay.
 
Surely the time has arrived for a verbal agreement behind closed doors.
We have others out of contract.

When did Swanie say that tigers80, was it tonight or did you go back to the archives?
 
Dusty is worth $1.2Mill pa over 5 years
FFS were paying our midget $700K pa with the players 20% increase that would be now $840K pa. So Our A grader Dusty is only worth $160K pa more than our midget?
An offer of $1.2Mill pa is really only $1Mill before the players got their extra 20% increase
Come on RFC $1.2Mill pa is fair just get it done!

Hopefully Dimma can sell some more of his snake oil so he can add money to the keep Dusty at Richmond fund!

I think we would match 1.2 but don't want to offer it because Ralph would just use as a bargaining chip to up the ante with other clubs making it harder for us to match.

I have noticed a few times you mentioned that the increase in TPP means an increase in a current comtract. Are you for real, is every player currently contracted going to get the increase or only new contracts post the new deal? Someone tell me a contract is a contract.
 
He's staying. If he wasn't it'd be confirmed he's out by all media. The only ones flip flopping between staying and going are those with a connection to Carr.

Carr probably promised Dusty 1.3 to 1.4, now he's scrambling to try and deliver.

we need something. What happens at the 'end of the season' if we find we can't match the offer? We lose him and then have nothing to replace him? It's not like we can say to Kelly, " if Dusty doesn't sign, then we want you, but if he does,then we don't".

maybe the decision has been made already :-\

Contracts are never as simple as $6 million over 6 years as has been reported. It probably includes bonuses for finishes in the b&F, games played, increases as per the eba etc etc. So Caro's probably about right

Ultimately I reckon Dusty will do what he wants to do and that all depends on what drives him. Does he want to be a 300 game Tiger legend with the chance to be seen as one of the greats of the club ?

Or be a richer football mercenary and sell himself to the highest bidder ?

Who knows?
