Draft/Trade Strategy 2023

For those who follow the likely draft and U/18 comps, does this year's draft seem a deep one?
There has to be at least 100 kids that could play AFL.
We need 4 picks under 50.
Trade Ralphsmith Graham Ross Prestia
People forget the early drafts went over pick 80.

Jeremy Finlayson has been dropped for Charlie Dixon, get on the blower Blair.

Petrevski-Seton delisted by Weagles.....hmmm. Worth looking at.
Funny how even with all the resources put into analysis, testing and monitoring juniors, clubs still get it so, so wrong.

Anyway, that 2016 draft looks awful. Take out Taranto and McCluggage and the top 15 might be the worst of the last 25 years.

Lot of people around here like to *smile* on our recruiters but we absolutely nailed our list strategy that year. Traded our early picks for Prestia, Caddy and Nankervis then proceeded to draft the best player in the pool (Bolton) and a handy role player with our next pick (Graham).

He wouldn't cost much, kicked 38 goals this year, and the cupboard is bare, especially if Lynch doesn't come up next year.
He moved to SA for family reasons. Doubt he will want to move as he's settled with a young family and bff with SPP and his young family.

All correct. Finlayson’s wife has terminal cancer and moved to be closer to her family. Very sad story really. All too common these days

If we can upgrade our first pick to an early 20's or late teens pick and get another pick in the 30's we would have done well.

I hope we are trolling the Suns and GWS lists to take someone off their hands for a pick or an upgrade of a pick.
We will have to be creative!

Will Brodie anyone?

Fell out of favour this year after having a great first season with the Dockers.

I can't believe we're in trade discussions and chasing free agents without a coach. Surely they're having input, otherwise we could be getting players who don't fit the coaches game plan/style. Seems dangerous for any prospective coach if they have no say on types.
