Dayle Garlett

Gartlett is the most talented player in the Country outstide the AFL competition apart from Tom Boyd. I have him No.2 pick this year if talent alone was the sole deciding factor in a clubs draft selections.

Interesting to see who pulls the trigger. I think Gold Coast and GWS (with its 1st Rd compensation pick) are his most likely homes. They can afford to take the risk, which means we won't get a chance to pick him anyway.

Is there such a shortage of small forwards that we need to use a first or second round pick on them ?

We need a classy, skilled, fast small/medium fwd. Its our only glaring hole. Go hard for one I say, but obviously don't risk another Taylor.

Despite not being completely sold that Garlett has "turned it around" I don't think it's fair to keep comapring him to Taylor. At least Garlett went back to WAFL and tried again, Taylor just sooked off.

Well said. Both *smile* up but one desperately wants an AFL career. The other didn't.

Too early to call. Troy went home after experiencing life as an AFL Footballer.

Garlett hasn't experienced that yet and those in the business have their doubts about whetrher he can cope with that.

Skill was never an issue for either of them.

Thinking maybe 'House Rules' might have something to do with it??

Would you use your first round pick on Cyril Rioli? That's the talent we are talking.

I don't watch juniors so I have no way of verifying his talent. But I'd be shocked if 18 clubs passed up a talent like Rioli throughout last year's draft, none even wanting to risk a rookie pick on him. It just doesn't compute.

Considering we've hit pretty much jackpot with our last 5 or so first round picks, why would you want to risk it ?

You risk it because these are the type of players that win Grand Finals.

Long, Rioli x 2, Pickett, Jetta (last year) & Varcoe have all had massive Grand Finals and either won the game for their team or gone very close to winning it for them.

You forgot Morton.

Boy we need some zip and class around the half forward line.

If not Garlett someone else. More and more I am leaning towards taking this boy.

Think he might go before our pick...unless we trade one of our uncontracted players...

Hmmm...Martin and our first pick for Garlett and another earlier pick...tempting.

Would you use our first pick Scoop?

Not sure yet. It needs to be a mid who can spread and use the ball. Not sure who yet. But Garlett in the mix for sure.

My favs this far are Garlett, Bontempelli Lennon, Freeman, Salem & Billings in no order.

Bontempelli is really flying at the moment. Last month has had three Best on's and kicked five yesterday as a midfielder. Both Bontempelli & Freeman are tall midfielders who move so well.

Our second rounder, in a flash. I don't think he'll be there at the point.

Might not be at the first.
