David Astbury, Thank You

Is that the prognosis ?

We are in for some pain next week against GWS who would fancied themselves now. Cameron, Patton and co will be licking their licks now.

One of our positives so far this year .

Who comes in for Astbury now to play that role? Chaplin can't. Grimes is too light.

Looks like Griff may have to go back again! We don't have anybody else to play his role.

Looks like Astbury is set to be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
The poor bugger. And he has been one of the few players who not only justified his place in the team but cold also hold his head high regarding his efforts and performances.
And to make it all so much more unbearable, it does most likely mean that Chaplain will play for the rest of the season rather than being rightly dropped to the ressies.

Gutted for the bloke. Always happens to the blokes that put in to make themselves better whilst Houli and Grigg run around to collect their pay cheque.

If the comeback period is the same as his last knee he may as well retire.

Also agree that this will be Chaplin wont be brought to account.

Have to wait for scans. Anywhere from 4-6 weeks to 6-12 months depending on the ligament damage.

This is a real shame, as he's one of ..... the only significant improver this year.

Our season is officially shot today. This sort of injury is the only thing that can really go wrong now, and it did.

Makes you wonder why it doesn't happen to an underperformer. Dimma said Davo had a tear in his eye at 3/4 time. Let's hope this doesn't end his short career.

Just starting to string some quality games together and then gets injured again.
I swear that Tiger skin better be out of the museum or I will remove it myself!

Poor ole Dimma.

This year we can't take a trick.
As soon as we get a player back, another one goes.

The top teams cover injured players but we crumble when losing two or three.

I think we really need to get some quality in the draft as we have been down while GWS and GC have vacuumed all the top picks.

The AFL truly dont want Richmond winning premierships.

Why should they?
We still get great crowds.

They are after the big TV rights dollar.

AFL=joke!

P.S. Good luck Astbury on your recovery ,you're a classy player and hopefully we will see you out on the field sooner.

how ironic that perhaps the only player that was beating his man goes down, and perhaps our best player this season. thought we had finally found an elite full back.

If his injury is the same as the Sydney game injury, you can mark it down it will take him 2 years to get back.
And that's sad because I thought he was the only player we had this year that put in each week.
I wish him all the best and hope it's just short time out.

3 seconds before he did his knee, Grigg managed to slip over his own feet resulting in the D's turnover and Viney ( I think) going past Astbury.
Thanks Grigg you weak as pi$$ footballer.

Have a look at Griggs face, he thought he was going to get hurt

Was becoming the player he was earmarked to be and having really good year. Unfort if done his knee it's just about career over. Will take two years to recover and be slow as snail when returns.

Absolutely gutted for him - but if it's not an ACL he has a chance to be A1 next year from day 1.

No ACL is a good start, just hope the other prognosis is not devastating, but I prefer this outcome at this stage.

Over to you Dylan

Such a shame for Dave, he was quickly becoming my favorite player.

He is worth persisting with at least for another season. Has the height, the skills and the frame to make a great key back

If he is injured again though I wouldn't hold out hope of him being there in 2016 :(

Been one of our more consistent backs this year, sad injury for Dave...If out for more than 8 weeks Darrou must be alleviated

Let's hope the scans and the associated prognosis aren't as serious as might be speculated.
As some other posters have suggested, if the injury is similar to his other knee then there is a good chance it will take 12-18 before he's right again ... and that may just be too long in the sense of establishing a decent career for himself.
I really hope there is a brighter outcome to Astbury's injury than I fear, because I was starting to enjoy his consistent, no-nonsense and determined efforts down back and was starting to think that maybe the Tigers had found themselves a decent tall backman.
Fingers crossed. Good luck DA.
