David Astbury, Thank You

Thought he did well. Two things hampered his game:

1. Lions got too much ball on the fly meaning the ball came in under little pressure. He did play Brown from behind but clearly had Brown's measure for pace on the lead.

2. Chaplin was not interested in providing him with a chop out,

Ass-burgers has been great, IMO he had a poor night. How many chestmarks did Granpa take? Five? You play him in front.

yeah, but theres a good chance you end up on Tom Lonergan's christmas card list.

Thought he was good. Brown got a few but there's no shame in that. Had very little help.

I love how cool he is with ball in hand.

Making great progress and we dont have a monster killer... Other than when coming back from his many injuries, say 6 weeks in always looked re-assured. good user, the best like Browny are the best for a reason... Love Browny... Wont everbe a superstar but could be really important as he is a big lad and strong, like how he always shakes the hand seen that for years.. good kid and we have a need for a minster killer, would love Rancy for more drive (says with hands over hes head a as disposal is questionable), hes an attacking backman who gives hes all, so glad hes come on, automatic nearly AA last year..

No harm in Assa getting taught a few things one on one by a crafty old champion. Young Dave's been playing some decent footy on some fairly good players, he's coming from a long way back after struggling badly from his knee injury.

Both Assa n Griffinator will have the odd wipeout game this year, as long as they keep learning n tracking on their overall improvement they'll both be pretty good players for us. Both KPP size players under 23 with less than thirty games at seasons start, they are only just now starting to develop into senior players, plenty of upside to both of them.

Did OK - brown was up for a blinder last night - the mark floating across the front of the pack and a couple of low down chest marks cms of the turf - not much you can do about those.

Still tracking Ok

Would have learned a lot last night, and really he didn't do that bad a job given his opponent and that it was a milestone match for him. Was a tad lucky in that Brown was starved of opportunity near goals early on.

Missed the footy a couple of times, when he got have got the fist on it....disappointed in how often he competed one out with Brown

Agree, thought Astbury was pretty good. From the get go he was laying off Brown and relying on pace to be in the contest which I actually think was good strategy to play on Brown. Brown was having no trouble pushing him off, so the strategy worked well, it was just when Dave got his closing speed wrong a few times.

In a game full of mistakes, Astbury made few, if any. Sure Brown got the goals, but Dave was close to him all match and even got a few good spoils in. He's the best defender we have at the moment to play on key forwards like Brown and Cloke and should learn from the experience.
