David Astbury, Thank You

Watching the game, he didn't seem faster but quicker. He started moving before his opponent would. Just reads it well.
Yes.

For me, it's more about changing direction than straight line speed.
That too. Definitely more nimble than last year.

Need a decent nickname fire Dave if he's going to make it.

Charger for mine.

Asbury, arseberry,hemorrhoids, hema, hemi,charger.

Lame really.

Maybe "Dave" works for it's blandness.
I call him *smile* on here and amongst friends, however when he walked the boundary in front of me the other day I called him 'D.A.'.

Don't think mine is any better....like the 'bury' part of his surname - kills the forwards he plays on ...so "The Undertaker"

What about "Aspro" (Ast-bro) ?

Maybe Aspro is a dated term.

We've got the chimp ( not sure of the background or it's known outside PRE)
But how about the Gorilla Killer, or GK, for Dave

Along this line of logic, how about Magilla?

Dave could even head out and get himself a pair of shiny red shoes to play in! :)

I heard someone call him berry boy" on Friday

I call him Dave or Davo. He's the only David on the list at present, isn't he? Not everyone can have a cool nick name. Richio always thought his was a bit boring, he was envious of his Dad being called Bull, because that was to him a cool nick name.

In Richo's early days I called him Madcow because that's how he ran around at the time. Wonder if he'd have liked that? I think not.

Aspro could work.

Aspro Clear(s) the ball from defence ;)

I've always been a fan of Dave. I think he's a smart footballer who reads it well, But has been struggling ever since that Knee injury. Obviously he is starting to get some confidence in his body back, and we are now seeing the real Dave stand up!!

Always called him Ass or Assa, close enough for me and I always know which player I'm cheering for, Can't think of anyone else in the league with a similar nick.

Plays a similar style to Chaplin I reckon. Does alright one-on-one, but real strength is reading the play, intercepting the ball and using it with poise. Hopefully he can make the step up to regular contributor this year, tho it will be interesting what happens once Grimes is fit and firing.

Good call Brodders.

Grimes as 4th tall would make our defence formidable.

Dont mind playing Chaplin, Rance, Astbury and Grimes together. But who gets shifted out the likes of Houli, Morris, McD and Vlaustin.
In short playing the 4 talls we still have decent run and ball use. Play 3 of them and 3/4 of the smalls (include the likes of Martin/Lids on occasion) and we have great run and ball use.

maybe its a choice between owning the air or owning the ground.
