David Astbury, Thank You

When Batchelor is fit he should come straight in for Astbury. Not sold on Astbury at all. Looks slow, lacks determination and isn't hungry enough. Trade bait ASAP.

poor kid ... looked like he was gonna be a real contender .. endlessly injuries and the game has passed him by I fear ... dea and batch are way ahead ... and there is grimes !!! whew it doesn't look good for the kid

Yeah, unfortunately looks a bit short of speed in body and mind for the top level at this stage. Harsh perhaps on a kid who's played eight games in three years, but there can't be any free rides in the first 22.

I thought he was a bit underwhelming, but fair go, he should have been played. No point putting him in for 1 game and dropping him, he deserved a second chance. Unfortunately if the hammy is bad and he can't play next week I don't think he'll be around next year. His body is wrecked imo

Agree.

I think he is just too slow to play in the modern backline. Seems to always get lead to the ball, slow turning circle and so forth. His spoiling and marking is just not that elite that he can make up for speed deficiencies.

he spoiled well when in the contest but geez he was about half a yard off the pace. I queried whether or not he had already tweaked his hammy and it got progressively worse. injuries may kill his career. Play Batch/Dea before Asties methinks.

I think the tweaked hammy will see him make way for Batch or Dea next week. Shame really, because he'd benefit from an extended run in the seniors.

Thought he spoiled ok but wet to ground way too easily letting his opponent getting 2nd dibs on the ball far too often.

Don't consider him being much of a loss as I prefer Batch anyway.

Good post.

I just want to see him get a good injury run as I think he can make it.

Prior to this season i didn't hold much hope for Astbury, but unlike most here i think all he needs is some continuity in the seniors. There is a massive tempo difference between VFL and AFL and i believe he can find his groove at this level. He certainly uses the ball well and makes good decisions.

really struggling to see what some do in astbury.

think he's looked hopeless in the two games he's played thus far.

that effort that led to jake stringer snapping that great goal was shocking to watch by astbury.

what was richo thinking?

Goes to ground almost as easily as Rance but is slower and weaker at the contest as well as lacking the heart and occasional flashes of talent that redeems Alex in the eyes of many. Trade/delist.

I'm an Astbury fan but I thought he looked a bit out of sorts yesterday. That's to be expected in his second game back.

In saying that, looking at Markovic's stats, 2 kicks, 7HB, 3 marks, 0 score. Astbury didn't excatly get his pants pulled down.
