David Astbury, Thank You

Astbury is into his fourth year of senior footy with only 25 games to show for it. Understandably with that record, in pure statistical terms, his output is decidedly underwhelming. When he was fit, I was struggling to see why so much faith was being placed in him. Now, after some serious injuries, that doubt has been exacerbated. I'm sure he's a nice fella, mind, hence the gifting of the number 12 guernsey.

Why don't you grab a hammer knock your kneecap out of place and see how many games you can play in 4 yrs. had that injury not occurred, I have no doubt he would be a regular fixture in the 22. He's composed with the ball, puts his agates on the line as evidenced by getting pummelled by Morris and decent disposal. Deserves a run at it as I reckon he gives us something down back, something we were trying to get out of Griff early in the season.

yep, good call.

Painful to watch him move like that. Was so immobile.

Doesn't look good for the lad.

I Did a finger 2 years ago and have struggled ever since.
Astbury isn't the answer down back,
Been watching zips form and think he is carrying a much bigger problem than a flipped finger.

So what did he exactly do to apparently displace Batchelor from the 22?

Jake should feel robbed. We will win easily in the 2nd half I think but doesn't change the fact Astbury ain't up to it.

poor kid ... looked like he was gonna be a real contender .. endlessly injuries and the game has passed him by I fear ... dea and batch are way ahead ... and there is grimes !!! whew it doesn't look good for the kid

He gets injured every game.

Besides the kids injuries, currently he hasn't shown anything to say his worthily of bring in the best 22.
When Markovic beats you, you know your struggling.
The injury won't keep him out, the selectors will.
