David Astbury, Thank You

Astbury would be a good replacement if Grimes is injured. If Rance's poor form continues, he could be given his spot as an alternate. As others have said, he looks composed under pressure in the Coburg games I've seen.

Nothing like Holland Zip's!

I'm not bagging him, I like him. Just saw him towards the end of last year and again on the weekend and looks like he lost a bit of pace he had.
I reckon he is a very smart footballer.

Yep,very important to our future if he can get back to what we know he's capable of.

Hasn't had a clear run for ages, hopefully he gets some pace back along with confidence in his body. Is very smart, something we lack in defence

I was actually at the Coburg game on Saturday and I thought he looked calm and composed.

Pushing for senior selection soon imo

Astbury's mobility seemed to me to have improved in the preseason's games of 2013. His one on one strength, well, he mainly played on smalls. (Great coaching of a bloke looking to improve mobility.)

I think we all noticed that as a youngster Astbury had aplomb with the footy.

Ben Holland, before his knee was elite one on one. Massive. And finished top ten in the AFL for contested marks in 2001(?). (I never liked the nick "Steg' because Holland was a meat-eater.)

Astbury strikes me more as a Zac Dawson type, who will learn to hold his own in the body contests, but unlike Dawson has a very cool head. And very fine ball use.

If he keeps developing the high back role will be his later this year or next year. I hope he can stay fit. Good type.

Good solid comeback from various injuries from David.

His defensive skills good, decision making good, OK as a forward.

Hopefully can win a bit more of the ball, and do a bit more overlap running, but is a solid contributor, and unlike many still plays similarly at a level up.

I suspect he is being looked at in the same position as Dea and Batchelor, a third tall in defense.

Personally I'd have him on the half forward line linking defense with attack and using his good running to support both.

Good progress.

Thought he played well in todays game. Is coming back into some kind of form which is encouraging for both him and the club.

Must come in this week and play as the third tall in defence. We need to see where he is at with his game.

Should replace Batchelor. He's no slower then Jake if anything he's taller and more mobile, a better kick and can swing forward if needed

My guess would be Astbury plays in place of Batchelor on Monday. Both are part of the extended bench so give him a chance to show us his versatility as he can play in defence or forward given the chance. Batch elor is way off form IMO

My guess is Astbury will be asked to play forward and that he is a McGuane replacement

My guess is Astbury will be emrgency. Batch hasn't been that bad. Our defence is all that held us from a thrashing last weekend.
