David Astbury, Thank You

Astbury every single day of the week.

Yes I would think so too TT but the jury is out for both as to whether they'll make it long term.
Neither have yet to really assert themselves either forward or back.
At least DA has a year up his sleeve and some time to recover from his knee.
What's Posty's excuse? Barely progressed at all in 4 seasons.
Couple these two with Griffiths and there's a lot of if, but & maybes surrounding them.
Need one at least to click into gear.

Speaking to a certain Footy Dept person on Saturday at the Gabba, he still sees Dave as a backman. That playing him forward isn't an option at the moment with three talls already there (mentioned the resting Ruckman). When pressed about Dave's one on one (in)capabilities, he conceded he was better playing loose in defence and had great composure in that role.

See Astbury got a good writeup for Coburg. Won't be surprised to see him come into the team this week likely for Post.

It's a toughy isn't it. He's up to playing Coburg so playing Seniors should be no different injury wise. But sometimes it is.

He's missed a fair bit of footy, do you vest him maybe, but why limit your seniors. Can he come in and make such a difference that our finals window stays open somehow, doubt it. Probably keep playing him at Bogburg is the safest call all round.

I guess it depends on whether you see him as benefitting from playing with the Coburg rabble or whether you see him gaining more from having a taste of senior football again. I would think it would be beneficial to expose him to the pace of AFL again because he has missed a lot of footy. Now has a few games under his belt at the lower level.
Personally I don't see how he can offer less than Post at this point but ultimately that is a decision for the coaches. If they have no intention of keeping Post around next year I'd prefer that they bring in DA. If they do then they may as well stick with the status quo for another week. Ultimately this is why I drew the vs comparison.

2013 is a huge year for Astbury. Rest of the year is all about preparing for next season. A full preseason without injury. He has talent hopefully he can reach it by having a breakout year next year.

Unless injured I reckon he'll be going to WA.
yep, need to see him back at AFL level ans send post back to Vfl.

Not ready, hasn't got the mobility yet.

A good pre-season would help, but I still reckon he's a better defender than forward.

But he needs to get his mobility back.
