David Astbury, Thank You

Good question ToO. Astbury would be a logical choice but another option might be they'll keep Post to play back and bring Miller back in. Most would know my preference by now.

I would bing him back in this week to play on their 3rd tall. He can also play forward if required.

With Grimes out injured, attention turns to the forgotten Tiger.
DA was a star on the rise last season but unfortunately has hit the 2nd year blues after being handed some big jobs early in the season and coming up short of expectation..
Does he get the chance against Port or will we look at another option?
The love train for Astbury does seem to have slowed.

I agree that it would be good to see him back but if he is down on confidence then bringing him back too early may just compound the problem. It would be good to wait for him to play one really strong game for Coburg and then bring him straight in.

He has been very dissapointing this year - maybe an opportunity opening up will be good for him.

Cream always rises to the top doesn't it.

If he does get a game now while being apparently down on form and confidence, it might just be the best thing to happen to him.

Need to give him another go, he needs the development. I'm sure he'll be our CHB for many years to come.

Has been ordinary at both levels this year, interestingly was held over after 1/2 time at Coburg on Sunday, pretty much ensuring him an AFL game this week, another no form selection, along with Farmer and Hellbig, we have a very strange selection policy

He'd be a certainty to come in. Be nice for him not to play in a game not constantly under the pump like he was in the early rounds, presumning of course Port don't play a blinder.

2011 is still a development year. No shortcuts. Bring him in, keep posty in. Both long term prospects. An interstate trip with their teammates will do them both good.

Ive got plenty of time for Astbury. Just a little down on confidence but long term will be great.
But i disagree on Post. He isnt going to be a player for us long term. WHile he is still young, you must look at his attributes that may develop even higher. He has next to no athleticism, doesn't read play well, not a hard worker... the only good side to his game is his pair of hands. He isn't really on our future plans. While they hope for Post to develop, Hardwick isnt placing his hopes on him. Griffiths is the key for Tiges future. An athletic, intelligent player with a lovely kick on him and pair of hands... just his shoulder is the worry. Have him at CHF, Riewoldt at FF and Vickery our 3rd forward/ruck. The appealing thing about these boys is that they are all pretty handy when the ball hits the ground.

This year in the games he's played, i have noticed him not reading the flight of the ball too well ie running underneath the drop of the ball and missing easy marks. He is also not the quickest player on our list, similar speed to Post.

I have a lot of confidence in Astbury.....second year Key Position Player, nothing wrong with him spending some time in Coburg to learn the craft and gain confidence. He might well come into the 1's sooner than expected due to injury though...Good luck to him

The one thing he hasn't showed is running power, something Rance and Grimes have in spades. Good position player, good overhead, skills neat, but not a real play-on at all costs type.
