David Astbury, Thank You

Re: David "Dave" Astbury

A few weeks back I had a crack at Jonathon Patton getting outmarked by Corey Gregson.

Dave got out marked by Gresham today. Gresham is 5'9" if he's lucky. Ouch.

Dave's not in great form at the moment.

Re: David "Dave" Astbury

A very good intercept marker, struggles sometimes in one on one contests.

He shouldn't struggle against a bloke 8" shorter and 20kg lighter. Poor effort but most likely a one off.

His last 2 weeks haven't been great.

No he shouldn't, one on one contests aren't his strength, and against the Eagles he was caught out one on one quite a bit.

Dunno about that. Might not be his strength, but they are also definitely not his weakness. He was good today.

Think the shellacking from last week stil spooked him.

Re: David "Dave" Astbury

Did OK again today. Made a couple of mistakes but more than made up for it with some if his interceptions. Good to see him finally closing in on his first 100 AFL games

Re: David "Dave" Astbury

I'm not a huge fan of some of our backmen. This bloke has been #1 on my radar for must-be-replaced.

Loose as gooseshit and often soft IMO. Gresham slapped him around? Of course he did.

To be fair to Dave he gets slapped around by rovers less as the game wears on. (Is he still #2 in the reverse Coleman or has he stepped up one place?)

*But Richmond fans think he should be All Australian fullback.* All fans think their fullback should be All Aust.

Dave lifted today. He went ballistic. Contested marks (against talls!) when out of position. Quick ball use. Aggressive ball use. Timely interception.

The fact that his rival Nathan Broad was SO bad may have flattered Dave but DA grew - and monstered the game. (With Rance a it down.)

Bravo.

Amazing.

I worried about the interaction with Caddy after he gave away a stupid free. Should I?

Nah, They asked Caddy about it on one of the footy shows and he just said Dave told him to use his brains a bit.
His response was a shrug and "yep, You're right".
All good.

Not at all, was really good on field leadership

agree.

Caddy bought into his own publicity for a split second and Dave called him out in real time :clap

I'd imagine Caddy was very grateful.

Regulating your own brain isnt easy

best we could hope for on Darling not winning the Coleman, and I dont hope for it cause I love watching unstoppable players, is injury.

another best we could hope for is Gawn going down, but I wouldnt dare hope that either 8-
