Is he the easiest big bloke in the game to out mark in one on one?
Blessing in disguise if he misses next week, time to give Carthwaite a game.

Just read this for the first time.... Lol.. Seriously go to specsavers.. I did a few years ago and it worked wonders

Re: David "Dave" Astbury

Will be so good to see Dave play his well deserved 100th game this weekend. A long time coming due to his cruel injury run but a well deserved milestone met. Go Dave have a great game!

Re: David "Dave" Astbury

Congratulations Dave.

100

Cruelled by injury but finally got there. Some unusual injuries there too !

Re: David "Dave" Astbury

I remember Astbury's first game against the Dees. Watching him slot a big one from the flank early on. Who would have thought not too long down the track he would be waxing lyrical with Grimes and Rance in a Premiership team.

Re: David "Dave" Astbury

After watching him getting injured nearly every game when he first came on the scene, too now been a quality defender he has done extremely well. On and off the ground

Re: David "Dave" Astbury

cant believe hes only played 100.

so glad brisbane didnt want him.

:clap

Re: David "Dave" Astbury

Just reward for hard work and perseverance. Strong in body and mindset to overcome so many setbacks.
He's become an intrinsic component in our team. His leadership is vastly under rated as well.

Re: David "Dave" Astbury

A great achievement to reach 100 games, :clap i hope he has more luck than what Concs did in his 100th.

Astbury has missed a heap of footy, he was drafted the same year as Dusty who has played 192 games compared to Astbury's 99.

The question that must be asked on the eve of his 100th:

Does he have a partner?
Saw him at Punt road with 3 young ladies the other night so I’d say his doin ok ;D

Hugely important cog in one of the best defences the club has ever had.

Do you have split personality disorder?

Re: David "Dave" Astbury

After a couple of so-so games Dave was back to his best today when we needed a defender to stand up especially day with Rance down a little. The big fella is so important

Re: David "Dave" Astbury

Just watched Astbury's presser at this morning's training on the club site. Cool as a cucumber in the face of some oppressive media. Has become an impressive leader.

Never panics on the field either. Good all round fella. Always acknowledges twitter posts with a like or a response.

Any inside info on this virus rumour?

Prelim mail: Tigers on standby for late change

RICHMOND defender David Astbury is battling illness ahead of tonight's epic preliminary final against Collingwood.

The 27-year-old has been struck down with a flu-like virus this week and was sent home from the club yesterday, essentially quarantined from his teammates.

He will be given until later today to put his hand up to play, with Ryan Garthwaite a likely replacement if the premiership backman doesn't get up.

It is understood that the Richmond medical department was initially not too concerned about the illness but Astbury will be given the remainder of the day to give himself every chance to recover as much as he can before any call is made.

Astbury has missed just two games this season, Round 22 with an Achilles complaint and Round 13 with an ankle injury. He was replaced on both occasions by Garthwaite for his only two AFL appearances.

Re: David "Dave" Astbury

It is understtod the medical department wasnt too concerned she writes.

They quarantined him from the others....thats concerned.

find out in a few hours i guess.
