David Astbury, Thank You

Gun! I am a complete goose fool for bagging him relentlessly prior to this season. Amazing. Solid as a rock. Huge factor in us being entrenched in the top 4 at the business end.

Dave's showing why those that gave him #12 after Richo retired knew what they were doing, eventually

Don't forget a coule of seasons he played the first 12 games or so and hard,y conceded a goal. He just needed a decent run of games to experience and fitness

I thought he was too slow. But he showed me.

Has been great this year. He, Rance and Grimes being able to play together every week without any of them getting injured has made a huge difference.

Major reason why we are going so well. Usually takes the best forward which importantly frees up Rance. Is playing way beyond my expectations

Another I'm very happy to say I was wrong about.
Ball movement less of an issue this season as seems to be working very well to his limitations.
Sign of a maturing footballer. Well done Dave.

I do still pack my kimbies every time he telegraphs a kick across goal, but I'll take that.

x2.

although I still struggle to come to terms with the fact that the recruiters, admin blokes, development staff and the coaches know heaps more than me.

Watching the replay now and with about 6 min to go in the 3rd when Macca avoids contact on Langford, the stink eye he gives him is priceless. :hihi :hihi

.

Dave as sergeant-at-arms enforcing defensive discipline - he's come a long way. Just shows that sometimes giving guys another chance pays off. Great player development.

I don't expect the club to try offloading Dave at the end of this season. Totally reliable and now has an offense minded style in his game. Borderline AA for me
??

Has this bloke come on in leaps and bounds.

I was never a fan but in the last 18 months he has put together a pretty solid body of work.

Probably in the best ten key defenders in the game right now.
