David Astbury, Thank You

His another one that has to go his just not at AFL standard even Brisbane didn't want him Dimma must be just trying to get games into him so they can get a extra 4th round pick for him

Until a better option comes around (eg Hurley), he's all we have as the second key back.

Agree he's slow, two grabs too many marks and is average by foot but he tries hard and is at least a decent size.

If Hurley ever came, I'd try Astbury at CHF.

Thought he was fantastic tonight. Some strong marks, desperate spoils and other than the obvious turnover, he used it well. He out Ranced Rance tonight

He's going on with it. Assburgers ackshelly can play. Surprise to us all.

Aerially he has always been good Jack and tonight he was better than that. Fantastic actually.
Ability to make contests and ball use still remains a concern for mine but he played well overall.

Not all of us. Injury aside when he puts a good few games together he builds. He'll never be Rance but he is very good ordinary player.

I'm a fan again, Olds.

You were right to keep the faith, Knighter. Your man is BACK!

Best game in a long time hope he can stay injury free his strong marking was a standout.

Probably one of his biggest critics but that was the best game he has played. Apart from that one turnover in the first quarter he was excellent thereafter. He took contested marks, attacked the footy and the most pleasing part he was more offensive with his disposals.

On the way home from the game I heard his interview on 3AW. Interestingly he admitted he was playing a very stagnant game and was reluctant to take the game on. He has worked hard with Rutten to turn this around.

Good posting.

We need to sign him up again.

Yes that lace out pass to the dogs in the 1st was great.
That's my problem with him, that pass was Hunt level decision making. He can take a good mark, but the cupboard is very soon bare after that.

Funny isn't how a bloke has Probally his best game ever and so much of us want to move up the other end , I actually agree , just think Astbury will compete a lot more, big problem SFA down back to come in

Not great but our whole back line was diabolical in that first quarter. It was turnover city. Astbury isn't the first you'd choose for disposals quality but he was good last night. One or two howlers but overall 21 disposals with 81% efficiency amongst 8 contested possessions was a good effort.

That's the real problem. It's like Hampson, neither are much chop, but we have to keep them because we don't have anything else.

Geez people jump off and on quick. Was good but let's see him play like that for the next 6 weeks. Has had a really poor season. Plus he's still incredibly slow. There's no changing that. Trade bait as it stands but doubt he fetches anything.

How good was his marking? Clunking them on the first go. Thought he played an excellent game, kicking and speed still iffy though. Looked to be reading the fall of the ball well. Has been good the last few weeks.
