David Astbury, Thank You

Was very good. We need him to stay on the park and to keep that standard as there is no one else coming through.
That's the sad thing. Astbury isn't and probably never will be the player we hoped he would be (largely due to injury), but we have to keep playing him because there's nothing and no one else there.

And that for me is a major concern.

Imagine life without Rance.
No I won't ;D

Yep biggest issue and also quickest turn around if we could ad atleast a B grade key defender, that's why I believe we should offer Hurley the world, could build a very good defence quickly, plus not have to live in hope our recruiting team could land a good key defender

He was alright wasn't he? Considering the shitfest that is our team he wasnowhere near the worst. Injury free from now to round 1 next year would do him the world of good.

I am with you CC. We have a massive opportunity to land arguably the second best defender in the league.

If it means paying overs, so be it.

Short- Hurley- Grimes

Yarran -Rance- Vlaustin ........not bad .

It was his intensity. That's the joke of whole shitblizzard.

Tyrone Vickery. Ben Griffens. Ivan Maric. These three gave us *smile* nothing. No excuses. You can lay a tackle. Block. Fall on somebody. Jog up into the stands, queue up and buy beers for Rance and Jack. Run out onto the park with the, being very careful not to spill any. Any contribution.

Far from the petal play of the torpid trio, Astbury was intense. He gave us a physical presence.

Hey Jack, didn't big Charlie get his hands on the pill in the marking contest a lot , he was like an Australian slips cordon in the late 80s, held about 1 in 10

7 year player who should be at the peak of his abilities as a footballer right now, and is barley adequate to hold a spot in a bottom-8 side.

Had a game where he didn't embarrass himself with the usual turnovers or a bog-average opponent beating him in contests.

Simple question, if he was available at the end of the season would any top 4 side even bother to add him to their VFL squads?

Yes they would for depth cover. Would I like an upgrade, of course I would. But for now he is our second best option.

Would you give Astbury another contract?

Charlie gave them an aerial presence. We might have got off a little bit light for punishment. One goal from 68 inside 50s was a good result for us. Tex Walker would have got off the chain under that much leather.

BTW if one of our talls had bought Dixon a beer he'd have dropped it. ;D

Credit where it is due he was very good tonight, still a but slow with his decision making.

Thought he was good tonight. Took some great marks and saved a few goals.

Bit iffy with the ball. Reckon he'd be a good forward.
I agree with that, not much competition in the dogs key forwards though, however I reckon Astbury would atleast give a contest up forward, problem is he and all our other big blokes other then Jack an Rance are not much chop

Have said before. Guy is probably one of our best marks. Should be playing up forward. Still too slow with his decision making down back which is costly.
