If Redden goes to WC for pick #17, then could we package up Astbury and picks #31 & #49 for Brisbane's current 2nd round pick #21 and 3rd round #39? (Also posted under REDDEN thread)

I would hope Astbury is worth more than upgrading our picks 31 and 49 by about 10 spots each in a weak draft as there may be not much difference in a player picked 39 and 49 - just my uneducated view

Would probably want their pick 17 in that trade.

I reckon there could be a larger trade involving Astbury along with Tom Bell and Yarran with us ending up with Yarran, Brisbane Bell and Carlton with most of the picks.

Something like

Brisbane - In - Bell & Astbury Out Pick 21
Carlton - In - Pick 21 & 31 Out Bell & Yarran
Richmond - In - Yarran Out Astbury & Pick 31

If we could do the above and trade either our 3rd or 4th for Townsend and then either take our 1st to the draft or trade for say Henderson (I'd want Carltons pick 38 back) then I reckon our trade period would have been ok.

My hat goes off to you. Here I am thinking of one deal (player and draft pick), yet you are thinking outside the square. I guess this is really what is happening to clubs, where they want to ensure everyone wins, it will involve more than two parties to arrange a deal. Nice work

Thanks. I reckon thats one of those deals where its a win-win-win scenario. Usually there is 1 club that seems to benefit more, but seems to be pretty fair all round.

I agree. Astbury and 31 will get us their 2nd, which will be for Yarran. I don't think we would look at trading him for a 2016 pick.

Maybe we don't want to give the Blues pick 21 , so where keeping the Astbury deal quiet with the Lions, hoping Blues will accept 31 for Yarran .
