Damien Hardwick

Has backed down on his Covid quarantine comment. Obviously someone has had a word in his ear.

I reckon Dimma should take a leaf out of Paul Roos book and employ the flood as a big 'up yours' to the AFL.
Should have camped 17 in defense during the final qtr yesterday and left Noah one out in the forward line. Might have helped avoid the Saints kicking 10 consecutive goals

They have in the last couple of years and have a few gooduns in Grainger-Barass, Day, Ward and McDonald.
Certainly they didn’t for the previous 4-5 years
I couldn't stuffed looking it up but I know they traded a lot. So basically they went to the draft 5 years after their last flag, we went to the draft after 1 year. Its a clear contrast.

Yes it is.
O’Meara, Mitchell, Wingard never got the hawks a flag and probably held back their progression.

2016
Harry Morrison at 74
Mitch Lewis at 76

2017
James Worpel at 45
Dylan Moore at 67
Jiath as a zone selection

2018
Josh Koschitzke at 52

2019
Will Day at 13
Finn McGuiness at 29

2020
Grainger-Barrass at 5
Mitchell at 29
Downie at 35
Brockman at 46

2021
Ward, McDonald & Butler

They've outdrafted us with significantly worse picks. That's pretty compelling evidence that Clarke and Hartley are overrated

Your first statement is hard to refute.
Eg the year we “raided” the Lions academy lads looked highly speculative at the time and subsequent evidence suggests the three picks have been wasted.
Four years 2017-2020 of meh apart from Balta.

No doubt.
The club makes so many social & political statements but it's generally as a united front.
Dimma may have been flippant but when you go off script & head into politics & medical areas then those in charge will rightly remind him of his responsibilities.

The last sentence of his statement was required.

'People far better placed than myself put these rules in place to support the efforts of our health care workers.'

It's a shame his remarks were picked up by a media organisation that feeds off this stuff but it is what it is. Don't think our football coach will head there again.

Now lets get back to the footy.

Doesn't help when Dusty, Prestygiocamo, Lamblett, Flossy, Grub, Jaaack are all having issues to start the season, throw in Cotchinator n Shedda playing like pensioners n Soldo struggling to have any impact returning from his knee reco.

But. There's gotta be some major issues that need sorting out when we can be leading n playing solid footy n then all of a sudden teams that have been mediocre for years at best can suddenly go on uncontested rampages n simply obliterate us. We seem to have absolutely no answer when teams get contested ball then spread wide n swarm with the overlap run. It's not just a two or three goal momentum burst it's seven n ten goal slaughters that we don't even pretend to be curtailing.

Worst thing is that our magoos aren't travelling all that well either. Only saw the first half against the Zebras n the Sonze n Nigel were about the only two I'd have considered for an upgrade.

Not sure he’s travelling that well the last 15 months or so ToOba. Think that silly outburst (amongst a few now) was another indication. He looks frustrated, struggling for answers. Lots of complaining.

Not saying get rid of him or anything like some nutters are suggesting, but think he’s a bit out of form - just like a few players are.
