Damien Hardwick

That presser had a 2016 stench about it.

But still believe he is the man to get us back to the top.

He is a leader of men. The guy wins flags wherever he goes.

I agree Tommy

Here’s the thing about Dimma - he’s learned he can’t do it all. He knows he needs good assistants. He knows he can’t over coach these boys and be too dour. He knows the players need to be rewarded for their defensive gut running with offensive freedom.

If he’s up for the next wave, he’ll do an excellent job.

He isn’t the problem.

Just a little jab at the premier around close contact rules
It was lighthearted but Dimma commented similarly early in the pandemic so pretty clear whre he sits on things.
We're all frustrated by the rules in place but they're there for a reason. Public health is bigger than footy.
Crazy thing was it was about Stack who wasn't going to be picked anyway.

Agree, it’s disingenuous. Doubt he’d feel the same way if half the squad went down at once with actual COVID.

He may not be the solution either.
He has one game plan and the turning circle of the Titanic when it comes to change.
It literally took him till mid 2021 to acknowledge the Stand Rule was changing the game, when it was clear before the season started that it would have an impact, potentially a large one.
His trusted core leaders are falling off the perch, but his strong loyalty will mean they play this season out on their terms, despite the desperate need to bring youth in for the rebuild.
We'll win our share of games this year but on current form are a middle of the road side at best, facing a mass exodus of experience at season's end.
After thirteen years, is his message to the playing group wearing thin?
And is his enthusiasm for the role wearing thin? Yesterday's call out to Dan Andrews re Covid restrictions sounded like a classic Cry 4 Help.
I'm not calling for his head but if current trends continue I do think he'll make the right call to finish up at years end.

Please no. Kingsley would be best option whenever Dimma goes. Someone internal who knows the club and players well.
Chris Newman is our man when Dimma goes. Lock it in.

Shaun Grigg will be back as an assistant also.

Lighthearted comment and already the media sensationalises it as a 'criticism' and Gil's Gestapos come out with their defence. Goodwin and even SloMo have backed Dimma.

Has to play

Dow
RCD
Stack
Sonsie
Graham
MRJ
Brown
Clarke

in the guts for the rest of the year.

Win loss be damned. We need to find out who has a future in there.
I agree with you, but no way will it happen. The declining old dynasty legends will keep their spot until they retire. Matthews didn't do it at Brisbane and Clarkson did not do it at Hawthorn...so doubt Dimma does it now.

We somehow need some of these guys you listed to reach their peak quickly to support Balta, Bolton, Baker, Rioli (and a few others) before they decline...I reckon you need 20 blokes all at their peak at the same time to be even a chance. Right now we have a lot in decline and a lot not having reached their best (and perhaps a few where their best is not good enough).

All this endless speculation and second guessing based on very little is doing my head in. It is very simple, what goes up must come down, its always been the way and is even more so with the equalisation policies. The challenge before him is to handle transition and development for the next tilt.

And anyone who thinks he is not aware of that and already onto it, I give you the 2021 draft. I'd love to see a comparison of how quick and how deep other recent dynasties went at the draft after winning their last flag. My bet would be they tended to trade and try to eke out one more.

I think it's clear we can't defend when we haven't got the footy now. So we are going to get opened up badly a lot this year. We just can't keep up for long enough anymore.

Dimma just needs to balance finding out about the list as much as possible without gifting games that aren't deserved.
