Damien Hardwick

Love the man. Can’t praise him enough. It’s early days this season no doubt …But can’t help feel the connection has gone. Started way back with the break up with the Mrs (like it or not) that went through the club.. plenty of close relationships between Mrs Hardwick and the players/partners….… then the assistants leaving …now dusty??….it looks a grind for the players now… manufactured….the ‘love/connection’ seems to have gone.

But that’s ok. Relationships end. Great ones too.

The question for the club - is he the man to guide us through a rebuild and take us back to the promised land whenever that might be? If no.. it will be time to move on.
I think they need to start up the truth telling commission again. There’s a few obvious attitude problems in the team.

It will be a big challenge for Dimma this week. To give up 64 - 0 against a middling Saints team was very poor. Every player tries when they are on an AFL field but they walked it through us at times on the weekend. We are in that bracket with North Melbourne at the moment. It looked like we had given up.

relax everyone, Carts has called for the rebuild.

A midfield rebuild, sure.

I quite like our back and forward lines.

With the caveat that a skilled small forward and a skilled medium forward would work wonders.

It’s nice to have a view of the game and not have to get by on commenting on other’s views.

Richo always said the bravest thing to do on a footy field is to chase when you are exhausted. We had close to 10 players in the team yesterday that weren't prepared to do that.

The biggest issue we had was that when they got a run in the 2nd half our halfback line and mids continued to push up the ground looking to block up space. As you say they then just walked it through us way too easily.

Anyone with half a brain could see we needed to go more defensive at that point, but didn't.

100%. Balta gibcus lynch baker and some more grimes broad valaustin short have us in good shape. The deficiencies are obvious. A fit Prestia and Martin replacing Ross and maybe an out of form champ will be a huge upgrade too.

We still have way too many players in the side who are poor disposers of the footy.
We're trying to reshape to follow the competition into careful control but we don't currently have the skillset.
An accurate kick is so much easier for players than a missed target & the resulting scramble that follows.
The Saints opened us up late because their disposal was crisp as. They controlled the game whilst we chased tail.
The result? We ran out of gas. Our chaos game is unsustainable, dead & buried.

We saw this writing on the wall. Gibcus, Brown, Sonsie, Banks, Clarke, all excellent users. But all 18 years old.

Exactly why its going to take some time to happen. Also need to add in the 4 or 5 retirements at seasons end. We just need to keep adding pieces to the puzzle..

Dimma rolling out the same old / same old in his pressers may be indicative of where he's at as a coach right now
I didn't like the stats analysis he said. Just hope he's not boring the players with this stuff.

HTF could we be out of gas halfway through the 3rd in two weeks out of 3?

We are not fit enough and someone needs to be held to account for whats been a monumental stuff up.

Saints came off a trip to Perth yet made us look slow and useless in the last qtr.

Game was played at a breakneck speed on a fast deck against a side that loves that type of game.
I still remember one of our great wins about 10 years ago against Saints at Marvel. Was a shoot out, Jack
Kicked a bag.
Dimma came out afterward and said yes, great spectacle, but that is not how we want to play and not how flags were won. Copped criticism for saying it.
I thought it was telling he never threw extra back last night. He knows we cannot win flag this year. He is already developing and educating this new team
As he said in his presser, this is what happens when the pressure comes off around the middle of the ground.

I saw his presser. He seems a bit uptight at the moment with not many answers.
The covid comments were a sign he's feeling the pressure already in a season that hasn't gone to plan.
Not to mention he'd be sick of the jernos asking about Dusty's situation.
Hope our 3 x premiership coach can rally the troops & fix things pretty quick.
We need him at his best to get things back on track.

Pissing off Teague should be the first thing they do this week.
Have a look at Carlton exactly the same team he had and he destroyed them.
There's no reason he should be working at the club.
Not convinced Clarke is a good Coach for 2's either.

Should avoid the COVID comments. Comes across as a denier TBH

That presser had a 2016 stench about it.

But still believe he is the man to get us back to the top.

He is a leader of men. The guy wins flags wherever he goes.
