Damien Hardwick

Well, I called this last year, and again this year even though some astute posters on here say I have no sense for football.

It's not all bad. We have Balta up forward and Gibcus down back. Now we get to see who of the young guns in the midfield step up. And we have Sonsie.

EDIT also forgot Shai, he's a gun and should play in midfield every bounce he can.

I'm all for optimism, particularly if Dimma and the MC decide to take some educated punts and play a few of the young fellas and drop the under-performers or those who probably aren't up to it anymore. Would happily support the new players if they are having a crack rather than become frustrated with the same old same old.
Some tough calls to be made if RFC want to turn things around in fairly quick order.

I wouldn’t go that far. But if I was the midfield coach like McQualter I’d be very nervous. We have been absolute *smile* for as long as he’s been in charge there since Kingsley started coaching the backs.
Excellent post. I havent mentioned McQ in name - but our coaching on every line is a disaster tbh.
Sure the mids are few and far between in depth - and our players are gassed. But our F50 entries, our Centre bounce plays and our HB plays to the 50 arc are all disastrous. Ongoing disastrous.

Best thing is to see how our players can develop into top players as Dusty did. Midfield is the biggest hole we need to cover.

the entire box could've coached that a little better after Grimes went off ..

you're not going to get suggestions from me, but a tweak here and there couldn't have hurt ..

It's like someone threw a handful of loose granite into our well oiled machine right now.
Preseason we heard about the short kicking but today the game was played at breakneck speed. We fell apart.
Dimma has some homework to do.

Dimma coached terrible since the bust up with Mrs
High turnover of assistants suggested the “ arrogant “ coach may be near the end
Why not put Balta back when Grimes was injured , but he chose to throw a 3 game player to the slaughter
Amazing
Lucky Dimma has had the player of the era playing at Punt Rd
Dimma is strife now that Dusty has turned his nose up at Punt Rd

I ain’t saying replace Dimma now by any means but when time comes it appears the field is not great. Would have loved McCrae as successor. Reckon it leaves Kingsley or Caracella. For what it’s worth, my prediction is Clarkson to Gold Coast and Dimma to GWS

Fair to assume that McCrae and Leppa leaving Punt Rd left a giant hole

I don't think our issue is as much with the assistant coaches in their daily duties whether it be our midfield or fwds coaching. I think our biggest issue is the intel we lost for game day coaching. That seems to have taken the biggest hit

Love the man. Can’t praise him enough. It’s early days this season no doubt …But can’t help feel the connection has gone. Started way back with the break up with the Mrs (like it or not) that went through the club.. plenty of close relationships between Mrs Hardwick and the players/partners….… then the assistants leaving …now dusty??….it looks a grind for the players now… manufactured….the ‘love/connection’ seems to have gone.

But that’s ok. Relationships end. Great ones too.

The question for the club - is he the man to guide us through a rebuild and take us back to the promised land whenever that might be? If no.. it will be time to move on.

A lot of good points made in that. Dimma did say that once he loses the players and they stop improving under him he would call time. Issue is will the success of the premierships and obviously the moula cloud that judgement now. Have the premierships instilled a bit of arrogance in ol Dimma and fractured some of those relationships especially in the likes of McRae and Leppa. Mcrae looks a very humble person for mine and perhaps could see the shift.

Bingo !!!

Concerning that in his presser he wanted to focus on the first 2 and half quarters where we played well, and seemed to shrug off the last quarter and a half.

Hopefully that was an external ploy to seem positive.

Dimma rolling out the same old / same old in his pressers may be indicative of where he's at as a coach right now
