Very simplistic take there. footy clubs are complex and our culture is storied and legendary . can't praise it without it also being open to questioning and critiquing . some of us suspect cultural decay. wouldn't be the first organisation to suffer that .

When the rfc interviewed the footy manager he said we are the best club at how we treat women . Our no.1 leader is not an exemplary example of this any longer . When we sing culture it's open for examination.

The Byron Bay Bongers
We're the Magpies, actually. First game this Saturday. Got a good side, I think. Andrew Swallow coaching the men, yours truly coaching the women. No bongs, mushrooms strictly post-match.

Wouldn’t mind a change of some coaches. Fresh ideas and eyes wouldnt be a bad thing for where the list is at. Reckon we sound out Leppa if Dimma does leave.

As much as I will be forever grateful for what he has given us, and he will always be a legend of the club. it wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen for both parties imo. Fresh start for all. 13 years is a long time

Some of our kicking has been horrendous, particularly in the back half, some of this is pure skill error, poor kicks under no pressure, but some of it is definitely due to our overuse of the handball in the 1st 5 rounds. The biggest problem it creates is the next rung in the handball chain is usually under more pressure than the previous one. When used right (and we used the handball very well through the premiership years) it opens up space, but we are actually closing space by using too much, which then leads to either been tackled, caught HTB or rushing our kicks. Marking the ball, provides more time to pick the right pace and execute and we aren't giving ourselves enough time to do that.

Personally I don't think we are a million miles away, We are marking the ball inside 50 more than out opposition, we have sorted out stoppage clearances (we've been negative on this for a while, we have a positive differential this year) but we have fallen away with centre clearances (which weren't that bad last year) which is due to mix, and our kick to handball ratio is way out of whack, which is what a lot of us have noticed. I firmly believe this is the biggest issue we need to fix. Fix the centre clearances (mix it up more, get Shai, Dusty and Marlion in there more, and fix the kick to handball ratio. This is impacting on our scores per inside 50 ratio (39.1& ranked 17th), last year we were ranked 3rd at 45.6%. We haven't suddenly forgotten how to use the ball, and the thing I see is us putting ourselves under pressure. The amount of times on Friday we handballed to a player that was immediately under pressure, means we are taking the wrong options and not looking for the right option.
yeah, i reckon it is obvious what we are trying to- run in waves, outnumber and use handball. when it works it has be scintillating. but some of our decision making has been off, and this has led to over use, or guys running into tackles, or as you say dump kicks.

there is still plenty of reason to hope things will swing upwards for us, especially if we can get some key parts back.

Saw DH interviewed about Marlion Pickett on FC (stopped outside his car) and say his energy played some part in his players' behavior (and also that Marlion needed to get better)

Anyway the fact he said his emotional state transferred to the players is what others here have been saying - and if he thinks it is an issue - he can do something about it.
Sounds like Hooch is considering stepping it up - psychedelics maybe?
