Damien Hardwick

Who was calling the game yesterday?
I heard snippets of the game as I was at the ground. Huddo and Buckley were two I heard.

Speaking of broadcast partners have you ever heard any other sport broadcasting a game from a studio? If you are going to pay the dollars at least do it properly.

I don't mean through the AFL, just the press conference. When he was asked about Lynch why wouldn't he just say I thought it was marking contest and there shouldn't be any further action, instead of playing some silly game of I don't know what you are talking about and then diverting with an unedifying whack at the broadcaster?

Everyone knows the media team will have briefed him before the press conference, it's just silly and doesn't reflect well on him in my opinion.

It would have more credibility if he didn't work for them on a regular basis.

You suggesting that you can’ t or shouldn’t criticise your own industry?

Don't think you could question the competency of Dunstall and Buckley. Hard to think of two commentators better equipped to talk about the game or key forwards.

Agree wholeheartedly on the studio though, it's a disgrace.

No, I'm saying say what you want to say without silly games and diversions.

And if you think an organisation is no good, maybe don't moonlight with them.

Hardwick didn’t directly pot yesterday’s commentators but the general quality of commentators and questioned the relevance of referring to them as a meaningful source of what should happen to lynch.

You think he was cranky at the presser, he'll be absolutely seething right now.
Must feel like we are enemy no 1. I just hope it doesn't diminish his passion for the sport like it is many of ours.

lol

a few tests coming up for Hardwick and the coaching group over the next 6-8 weeks , as if it wasn't challenging enough

with Nank , Soldo , Tarrant, Lynch , Gibcus unavailable
and Biggie (just when his turn had come ), Brown , Colina & Bradkte not available to even throw in at the deep end

meaning we are playing Ryan & Young (less than 10 games between them) , Grimmes & Balta down back and Jack up front as our tall brigade

and Miller the only player greater 190cm to call on

I suspect we will see Pickett at a few centre bounces a la Grigg but suspect teams are better prepared for it now

Yeah, Biggie is really unlucky. He would have definitely been back in the seniors and may have been given a few games to push his case for a more regular berth.

Who is we? 80c in every dollar of revenue in the game comes from media rights money, maybe more with the new deal.

Maybe you should change your name to Rupert Stokes?
and wheere do the broadcasters get their revenue from?

Some comes from advertising (ie. Channel 7) but much of Fox's - who you have quoted here - comes from where exactly? Oh right, my TV subscription?

The media don't put their own money in, they put THEIR SUBSCRIBERS money in, so if THEIR SUBSCRIBERS are not happy with the product, maybe they cancel their subscription and then Fox have less money to invest back in the game.

At the end of the day, the punters pay for the game, just in varying methods.

I don’t know if his quip specifically referred to saturdays broadcast , I interpreted as a general swipe , perhaps it was their acceptance of a few questionable f50 decisions that ultimately decided the contest , I don’t know bit I’m tipping he was well aware of the injury report and was in no mood to suffer fools

I think Hardwick has more pressing things to concern himself than taking swipes more regularly this season at the media.

If we were 4-0 he would he still be this way with the media?

Four rounds in I have no idea ‘what we stand for’ in a game sense.

2017-2020 we knew what we stood for and how we played.

So far I have no idea.

With injuries mounting to key players and promising youngsters the next four rounds could decide our fate.

I know he has said previously that having Taranto & Hopper this year it will take time for them to gel and accustomed to playing the Richmond way.

Caesar will know better than me as he saw how they were training ( match sims )before the real stuff began. Was what he was seeing at training been there these first four rounds?

In my view we can’t have both Taranto & Hopper in the midfield at the same time.

I like to see Shai much more midfield minutes as well as Pickett ( but not as a ruck ). You see players react differently when he is in the area.

He has to now become more creative than reactive.

Work out how we want to play and stick to that game plan.

There are going to be more younger players being brought in sooner than anticipated, but that’s a good thing.

We get to find out more about our depth now as it will be tested as well as Hardwick’s coaching.

“Big Boy Month” replaced by “Kids Future Month”.

Over to you Mr Hardwick.

Mr Damien Hardwick oversees the finest football academy in all the lands.

Let's see what that academy can produce from here until August. There does appear to be some raw material, some beginning to be refined.

Fair point but the broadcasters are the ones who set the value of the game by putting their nuts on the line. When they pay rights they do it in advance and back themselves to profit of it but also carry the risk of a loss.

If they paid much less and charged subscribers much less then they'd still make a profit but the game itself would be stuffed or skinning the fans for revenue.

In 2012 Mr Damien Hardwick got the RFC seniors to do something that they had not done since Northey - to rise as one. It took him two rounds.

With a side full of children he can do that again. Of course, we're a big city football team now so don't just lose our load in R4. But the juniors are in and we need to win football games.

Fans who joined in 2018 never knew who Mr Damain Hardwick was. But we all saw.

*Taranto and Hopper will gift us a premiership in 2023.* Nup. But they'll give us a chance at the four and give us a midfield while we transition.

Defence is looking ok in 23. Ball movement patchy but sometimes terrifying. Structures firm despite radical change. Unforced error out of control. Unforced error can be a talent (or otherwise indicator) in an experienced player. Game breaking is an indicator too. And a better one.

Overuse around half back, 7 minutes left, don’t even get an inside 50.
They then kick sealer from boundary.
Have to blame the coaches for that BS overuse which results in nothing
