Damien Hardwick

Geez, we are in a weird spot right now. From the beginning of last season to yesterday, we’ve lost 10 games, 6 of those by a goal or less. With the exception of the first St Kilda game last year and Collingwood last week, we have lead at some point in the second half of every single match. We are clearly competitive no matter the opponent yet something is missing.

That extra gear to get you over the line - mix if motivation, fitness and skill / composure - it’s not quite there yet.

No killer instinct
Even gutless spineless clubs like Port are able to fight back in the last minutes of a game and win.
We had 33 seconds, but with Nakas it was the easiest cente clearance Footscary won all day.
And to get me angrier Nakas gets the ball on the wing and boots it straight to a doggies player

Understand it's a bit of a dog whistle for the establishment haters, but I think that was a pretty poor press conference.

Reflected a few of the issues evident in the team. Undisciplined and unprofessional.

Did he give 2 press conferences because I can’t understand how you come to that conclusion based on the one I watched and is up on the RFC website?

what? he's not allowed to be human ... like Dan Richardson said about the Umpires ...

Surely the coaches can say whatever TF they want - if the Umpires are given Carte Blanche

the expectation on people in general to behave within certain boundaries is reaching uptight saturation ..

social and political correctness has permeated into so much of life that anything that pokes the bear with a stick
is considered out of line, unprofessional, sometimes illegal, etc..

maybe Dimma, like me, has had a gutfull ..

Playing a childish game of I don't know what you're talking about when he obviously does?

Taking a cheap shot at the broadcasters that put in huge amounts of money that allow him to be paid a fortune to coach footy? The same broadcaster he does regular cashies with?

He should be better than that. If you want to make a point, do it in a professional way, not like a 10 year old.

No way to prove it, but I'd bet we've been trying that angle for 3 or 4 years, and getting no satisfaction, and the problems are getting worse.

We need some representation in city hall. That's the broader issue. (actually I'd just settle for a few who aren't hand-picked boys club insiders, or to put it another way, some diversity and transparency).

dog whistling is indirect criticism. It was pretty direct.

I just watched this and agree, Hardwick was quite measured given this game got away from us I would have thought.

The journo quoting the commentators as his source that Lynch could / should get suspended - It was a lousy way to ask that question and Hardwick is clearly frustrated that our players/club seems to be open fodder for the press.

The more people who raise the issue of the poor and biassed standard of many who commentate on the game the better - they are not a protected species.

I absolutely loved it. Two big thumbs up. 5 stars. 4Ks. 9/10 I wouldve named Korholio outright.

I don't mean through the AFL, just the press conference. When he was asked about Lynch why wouldn't he just say I thought it was marking contest and there shouldn't be any further action, instead of playing some silly game of I don't know what you are talking about and then diverting with an unedifying whack at the broadcaster?

Everyone knows the media team will have briefed him before the press conference, it's just silly and doesn't reflect well on him in my opinion.

The more people who raise the issue of the poor and biassed standard of many who commentate on the game the better - they are not a protected species.

It would have more credibility if he didn't work for them on a regular basis.

1. He didn’t have a go at the broadcasters, he had a go at the commentators. And he’s 100% correct.
2. We pay for the game, not the broadcasters. He was making a point that we can all relate to. That the media whores who feed like parasites off our game are trying to determine outcomes. Honest feedback is so rare and yet you prefer muted whispers behind closed doors?
Have you ever considered changing your name to Caroline Cornes?

Fair enough. I disagree. I'm sick to death of Lynch being demonised in the media and the AFL and I thought the approach and the objective were valid and well executed.

Who is we? 80c in every dollar of revenue in the game comes from media rights money, maybe more with the new deal.

Maybe you should change your name to Rupert Stokes?
Have you ever heard of capitalism? RS supporting the game out of the goodness of their hearts? You are an amazing man sometimes.

Without us, they’d have nothing. No game, no revenue, no memberships, nothing.
But you prefer to put the broadcasters rights before ours?
Whoever you are, you’re not one of us.

Maybe the broadcasters should employ more competent people and they wouldn’t be open to such criticism.
