Damien Hardwick

Has there been a lot of rain up gold coast way recently? Heavy ground?
Seems the last few weeks teams have been very flat and ordinary after playing there(pies,us and GC twice)

I'm convinced we had heavy legs due to increased training loads. Pickett sluggish and fumbly, Shai and Danny invisible for a half, etc.

Dimma's not in it to make the 8. It's a flag or bust. Get everyone right and we can win it from 8th. But we need to be fit. He took the risk that we would still be too good for Norf. He lost.
With respect mate if I was asked to make a list of 50 reasons why we lost I'm pretty sure training loads wouldn't be on it.

Not a lot of rain in the last month. I had a kick on the ground after our game there and it was in pristine nick.

We'll see.

Cornes might be OTT in his usual way but no coach or player gets to rest on their laurels.
Footy keeps moving forward pretty fast & it's a results based industry.
If we miss the finals again this year then the questions will inevitably come not just for many snr players but our coach too.
Not sure they will TOO. The general opinion is we will fall off the cliff and we need to go again. They won’t question Hardwicks ability. But more so his desire to rebuild the team again.

Heavy loads are absolutely a thing.

Club came out and said they needed to adjust after 2018 and time the run. This is on the public record.

2019 was subsequently a forgone conclusion come September.

2022 is no different. Dimma rightly knows there’s no point rolling up to September unless you are *smile* cherry ripe.

Spooker’s theory is compelling and this is definitely the right time of year.

We would’ve budgeted for the north game to be a win though. I’d be willing to guess last week was our heaviest load before the harder games against Freo, Brissie, etc.

cant agree with those of you saying heavy training loads.
Only need to read the Great Caesar's reports to see its basic stuff.

These guys can hardly get on the ground from week to week let alone pushing hard. If anything, the injuries, repeated hammies to a few players, etc mean its a battle from week to week to even get some of them on the park IMO.

I also don't subscribe to the Dimma cant handle contrarian views angle.

I just think he needs quality underneath him - and year on year, quality has left the club in spades. And not been replaced to the same level. The calming, smart influence Balmey had may not be as prevalent through the club (Balmey's choice to step aside) and those surrounding Dimma arent as good.

The heavy load thing is nonsense.

Heavy loads don't make your brain stop working.
Exactly missing sodas in front of goal or the brain fades or undiscipline hearing to much excuses no one else to blame but ourselves hasn't been rectified in months.

If you keep blowing leads through players panicking and forgetting team rules, or you can't beat the second worst team in the comp then theres a coaching problem.

Dimma keeps saying "we'll learn from this" but we don't.

That's a coaching problem.
Here here Angry. Same mistakes over and over.

You know my least favourite? With less than a minute to go in the first two quarters we are bloody guaranteed to concede a goal.

If load management was the cause then someone needs a spell or an education. Three years in a row we have been cut down by soft tissue injuries.

look forward to Dimma quoting this as the key to the 22 flag.

That's wrong.

We actually haven't been but down by soft tissue injuries volume wise this year.

If it were Banks, Aarts, Soldo, Miller, Edwards and Martyn injured would you be complaining?

Instead, unluckily it has been our champions.

Our injury list ATM is a grand total of 3.

Any club would love that this time of year (It just includes Dusty and Lynch).

Why we blaming Hardwick.
When Riewoldt lost us the game.
And if there was ever a chance for this club to stand for something.
Riewoldt should be the 1st dropped this week.

We'll see.
Need to ask caesar if there's been any noticeable change at training. He has eyes on the ground.
If we somehow manage to turn things around it's not necessarily due to training loads.
More likely because we get a few key players back from injury.
Regardless I like you sure hope we can turn things around.

Dusty, Cotch, Lambert, Dion. Throw Lynch in to that mix too if you want.

They are getting injured and spending less time on the park. That's not bad luck, that's because they are older and their bodies can't hold up. To not accept this is pure denial.

not saying it is a factor for us now, but fatigue does have a clear impact on decision making. so if a player/team was more fatigued, it is reasonable to expect their decision making to suffer.

You missed the most important player - Lambert.

I was thinking the same thing. Shai looked like he was walking in mud before the game. Looked like he'd run a marathon the day before.

I'm feeling confident.

We probably need a little more luck than in previous years, but not by much.
