Whats wrong with picking the older guys?
Why do we need a token youth policy with Clarke?
Older players such as Hayden & Langer are not going to get any better in their mid 30's.Players won't walk these days as the money is so good so the selectors need to show courage hence I would stick with Hussey & chop one of the openers.
MB
Agreed, Hussey looks like a test cricketer. Can't drop hayden now.
DROP CLARKE

Re: Cricket

Clarke won't be dropped, he's a born and bred New South Welshman. He'll get one more chance next test and if he fails that's it.

Re: Cricket

As expected Clarke has lost his test spot to Langer. This should do him good as he can concentrate onmaking runs in the Pura Cup & then come back into Aussie side.

Re: Cricket

Thta's the entire Ashes middle order Martyn, Katich & Clarke sent packing. Who said there wasn't going to be much fallout after the loss in England? :blowingup
Good to see the selectors making the hard decisions on the Aussie team. That's what they are paid for and if they don't make those hard decisions they'll be the ones under the pump.

Agreed. One can only hope for good ;D
Not a big fan of Clarke Skipper?
Nope for a number of reasons.
Like to enlighten us.
As gifted as he MAYbe he was brought into the side without earning his stripes so to speak. There were a number of players at the time who had more solid claims to get into that Australian side before Clarke IMO.To add to this his whole attitude over his present lack of form and ignoring good advice tells me he has an easy path all the way through his cricketing life which leads back to the earning his stripes issue.
At the end of the day he needs to reel in his ego.
Will be interesting how he responds.

spot on!
his first class average before test selection was in the 30's.  I cannot recall any batsman getting a baggy green with a worse first class average.  Drop him into the Puma Competition and when his average is over 50 - bring him back.

Puma Competition, since when did Puma start selling Milk. :cutelaugh
Maybe Clarke should go back to playing Milo Cricket.

Re: Cricket

Second Test, Faisalabad
Pakistan 462 (Inzamam 109, Shahid Afridi 92, Mohammad Yousuf 78; Harmison 3/85)
England 113/3 (Trescothick 48, Bell 36no; Rana Naved-ul-Hasan 2/23)
Stumps, day two

England will resume their first innings still 349 runs in arrears. The day contained two remarkable incidents. First, Inzamam played the ball back to Harmison and the fast bowler threw down the stumps at the striker's end. Inzamam was given out, run out, as his back foot had left the ground, although the laws state that this should not matter as he was taking evasive action from the throw.

Then after tea a major commotion ensued when a gas cannister being used for a boundary-side drinks dispenser exploded. Security personnel swarmed on to the field and play was held up for some time until it was determined there was no bomb threat, rather that someone had left the gas cannister in the sun too long. Only in Pakistan!

Re: Cricket

Come back Clarkey when you can concentrate on cricket rather than the trappings that go with being an international identity!
Cant blame him tho he is a pup after all now isnt he. His time will come and he will be back better for the experience.

England 391/7 (Bell 115, Pietersen 100, Jones 55)
Stumps, day three

England will resume still 71 behind on the first innings with three wickets in hand. Pakistan will rue several missed opportunities on the third day. Typical Pietersen, pull shot for six to bring up his century and then tried it again on the very next ball and skied one to mid on.
