Cameron White stiff.  Could have got one just on his batting.

What does it mean anyway - all it seems to me is that the states don't pay the wages of those players.

Agreed JB on Cameron, maybe Warney could take him on as a protege when he retires , that obviously depends on when the great man gives it away.

Re: Cricket

Somewhat remiss of me not to post the situation at stumps yesterday

First Test, Lord's
England won the toss and elected to bat
England 318/3 (Trescothick 106, Cook 89, Pietersen 54no; Muralitharan 2/69)
Stumps, day one

Re: Cricket

First Test, Lord's
England 551/9 dec. (Pietersen 158, Collingwood 57)
Sri Lanka 91/6 (Jayawardene 40 no; Mahmood 3/9, Hoggard 2/14)
Stumps, day two

Sajid Mahmood helped destroy Sri Lanka's top order. Sajid who? Exactly. England have more than the 12 who won the Ashes last summer to call upon nowadays.

However, Michael Vaughan's comeback from his chronic knee injury has been delayed again.

Re: Cricket

They probably have about good 17 that may come over Ready, never heard of Mahmood, how does he look Ready. Any relation to Azhar Mahmood. Is a seamer or spinner.

He's a seamer. He bowled pretty well - quick and got some reverse swing, though it's fair to say the Sri Lankan's aren't much good.

Re: Cricket

we look the goods, we also have panesar-mahmood-cook who didnt play in the ashes and they look good

Re: Cricket

England failed to snare the last 4 Sri Lankan wickets on the final day.

Poor fielding & bad light combined to allow Sri Lankans escape with a creditable draw.

Re: Cricket

Funny how all the press about Mahmood being an absolute gun disappeared overnight.

Flintoff's captaincy has been brought under question. They wont want to play the Ashes with him as captain IMO. Great player no doubt but a way to go to be a good captain.

Re: Cricket

English captain Michael Vaughan has been officially ruled out of the upcoming Ashes series due to his troublesome knee injury continuing to plague him.
Big blow for the Poms and great news for Australia.

And Jones is of course also as good as out. Flintoff has continuing worries and Giles is yet to play this summer (not that we worry about him too much...).

With all that and losing the one dayers against Sri Lanka 5-0 they are in disarray.

Re: Cricket

The down side of all these withdrawals is they'll cry injuries when we cream their creamy white arses!

Maybe so,but we will never reverse last year's result.
