Justin Langer has ruled out retiring after the hit to the head in the third test in Sth Africa.
He want's to play on until the Ashes next summer.
Question is, if Jaques get runs in Bangaldesh, will the selectors go back to 35 yo Langer?
Asd much as I admire & respect JL, I think missing the Bangladesh tour, probably spells the end.

Bangladesh 1 - 105 off 20 overs but on a very very very very flat wicket. Dizzy got the wicket but the bowling has been pretty average.

Despite the fact we are playing Bangladesh we have not selected Jacques.Boy this guy gets shabby treatment.

Re: Cricket

Honestly my bloody driveway would have more movement off it then this pitch they are playing on..... :hihi :hihi 1-160 then bangers.

Re: Cricket

Despite the flat track we should be doing better than having Bangies 4/305.Hopefully now we will push through the wickets.Macgill will probably get 8 wickets to keep his excellent record against useless batsmen.

Re: Cricket

First Test, Fatullah
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat
Bangladesh 355/5 (Nafees 138, Habibul 76; MacGill 3/82, Gillespie 2/36)
Stumps, day one

Re: Cricket

Also the sixth ODI between India and England is in danger of being cancelled.

After the abandonment of the fifth match in Guhawati due to a wet outfield the crowd -- who thought the ground was fit for play -- decided to make their own amusement by staging a full-blown riot in which scaffolding was torn down, the ground pelted with missiles and four television cameras wrecked, one of which was torched in a bonfire. Two of the cameras are those used to adjudicate run-outs and stumpings referred to the third umpire. Since replacements must be sourced from the UK, and since no ICC-sanctioned match can go ahead without the third umpire (who requires all the necessary tools), the sixth match may be cancelled.

That's embarassing. Bangladesh aren't up to test level and they're slaughtering us.
Whilst the pitch is a batting paradeise I'm surprised Bangies have done this well.

Re: Cricket

Have to laugh: everyone sook because Murali plays the weak countires and gets cheap wickets while Warnie has to play the better countries. Yet when he finally does play a weak country he goes wicketless anyway.

Was thinking the same thing myself jb.

You can add to the fact that everyone goes on about McGill not deserving a spot in the side yet everytime he plays he gets wickets. ::) :p

I'm not suggesting for a second that Magilla's a better bowler than Shane, but he's a more potent weapon than he gets credit for and a better option than many of the hacks we've had bowling recently.

(I expect mb64 to come out calling that it's only against Bangladesh, but how come Warne didn't take any wickets if it's so easy? Wouldn't be the first time this has happened when the two spinners have been in the side either. That is that McGill takes the haul and Warne goes home empty handed).

I think that's because opposition teams try to keep Warne out, and attack MacGill. Hence MacGill gets wickets, Warne dips out.

Re: Cricket

Credit to Bangladesh but the wickettakers are guys that haven't had much cricket of late & thus fairly fresh.

Imagine most of the guys suffering some letdown from the S/African tour + jaded, particularly after 'back to back tests' & quick exit to get to the subcontinent , ie , we're not really well prepared despite the supposed gap in class v our opposition .

Re: Cricket

Did hear briefly on the radio news that Warne was going to have a scan on his shoulder because it was giving him trouble when he bowled.

Re: Cricket

Bangies 6/408 as the embarrassment continues. From here Aussies should be able to bowl them out for 450.

Re: Cricket

Banglans 6-413. Interesting that Symonds, who is inthe side as the All Rounder hasn't bowled. Surely his offies would have been worth a trundle at some point. Michael Clarke has bowled. Maybe Roy isn't Ponting's mate this week.

Symonds is 12th man.

He's definitely not Ponting's mate this week!
