Who would be the bowling attack you would take into the ashes MB???
Tuby,McGrath,Lee,Bracken & Warne. If Clark continues his current form I might put him in ahead of Bracken.Another spinner to play the Sydney test.

Max Bygraves 64,are you suggesting Tubby Taylor should bowl in the ashes,or is our own Tubbytiger a bit of a demon quick??
:hihi

Tuby, I reckon the bowlers should be McGrath,Lee,Bracken & Warne. If Clark continues his current form I might put him in ahead of Bracken.Another spinner to play the Sydney test.
Now modified for you my good friend struggles.Don't think we can slot tuby tiger into the bowling attack at the minute. But while Kasper is getting a game we are all a chance.

Re: Cricket

Third Test, Mumbai
England 400 and 191 (Flintoff 50; Kumble 4/49)
India 279 and 18/1
India require a further 295 runs for victory with nine wickets in hand
Stumps, day four

The runs dried up for England on the fourth day before the wickets started falling, precipitated by Shah's needless run out just after lunch. The visitors still managed to set India a target of 313 to win and got one out of the way with Anderson dismissing makeshift opener Pathan. Interesting to see if Sehwag recovers from back spasms by today, but anyway, it's all to play for!

Re: Cricket

Good contest . English in the better position but still time for India if they're good enough...

Poms would view the tour a success if they can square the series & certainly would boost confidence for the Aussie tour late in the year...

Re: Cricket

Certainly would if they could square it up at 1-1. Solid effort considering all the injury/illness/personal issues. Players like Cook, Shah, Panesar and Anderson won't be overawed later in the year after this. The two players who may be concerned are Ian Bell (although in fairness he had to open in this Test) and Geraint Jones, both with a lack of runs.

Re: Cricket

Going to the Gabba to watch a few sessions of the Shield final and support the Vics. The queenslanders really hate us, a lot, so it should be fun.

Are you going to watch the tiges on 22nd April Snake-eyes??
I'm going up for a 4 day bender over that weekend.

Re: Cricket

Bloody oath I'll be there.  This year may be a fraction less um, how to put it...stimulant fueled, than past years.  There'll be 3 generations of us there, the old man is coming up from Ballarat and My brother kids will be there.  It'll be good.  I'll wear my usual grass skirt and council fluro vest and stillettos so you can recognise me ST.

What do cricket officionados reckon of the Vics chances?

Re: Cricket

Third Test, Mumbai
England 400 and 191
India 279 and 100 (Tendulkar 34; Udal 4/14, Flintoff 3/14)
England win by 212 runs
Man of the Match: Andrew Flintoff
Man of the Series: Andrew Flintoff
Three-Test series squared 1-1

England struck twice early on the last day to have the hosts at 33/3, only to see them reach the relative safety of 75/3 at lunch. In the first over back Flintoff roared in and removed Dravid, and when the oldest man in Test cricket, Shaun Udal, struck to remove Tendulkar in the very next over the writing was on the wall. India lost a staggering 7/25 after lunch, including Dhoni's complicity in his own downfall. Two balls after being dropped slogging into the outfield he tried the same trick again...

So a makeshift England side come away from one of the toughest tours in Test cricket with a highly creditable squared ledger. Showed a bit of heart and anyone who reckons they won't be up for it later in the year can think again. :thumbsup

Re: Cricket

Great effort by the Poms. They will be tough to beat in the Ashes particularly if the selectors continue with "bring back the hacks "policy.

Got it in one Ready. That's a terrific effort considering the injuries they had.
I expect another fantastic Ashes series on the Aussies home soil. It'll be close again no doubt.

Re: Cricket

great effort by england, no tresco, no harmison, no vaugan, no jones, no giles

5 players

good effort

Re: Cricket

But he's the King of Spain! ;D

Giles was number one choice before the tour, but has probably been surpassed by Panesar. A lot will depend on the performances of both in the home Tests this summer. Udal will be third choice in case of any injury etc.

Re: Cricket

Great effort England it will be a close series and hard to pick a winner, England probably has better form with an away series win over a better opponent. Their depth has improved too as 4 years ago they could not cover them but this time they did and with younger players like Panesaar, Shah, Anderson and Cook who have hardly tests rather than bringing back tried and failed players (Crawley, Ramprakash, Hick who all had multiple returns to the side) covering for form and injuries. Australia is starting to show a slight leaning to this (Marto and Kaspa).

What are the weather conditions like in Brissy Tigersnake have heard of rain forecasts. Denton now out of side, would say Qld is favourites (especially if rain means loss overs), Vic middle order has failed most times recently and would need to bat like 2nd innings against Wa. Do like Lewis and Harwood at the Gabba but same with Bichel and Noffke.
