Good effort by the Aussies.Still feel there is short term gain & long term pain by playing blokes like Kasper.Regardless of what Martyn does his return to the side is a misstake. In other news Mark Waugh has asked for Trevor Hohns so be sacked.Couldn't agree more.

Who did Mark ask?
He suggested.
I'm surprise Mark didn't push for a recall himself seeing as Martyn's been given another stab :p.
Perhaps he did?
I respect Mark Waugh's opinions.Doesn't beat around the bush. Its good someone has publically questioned the selectors selections.

Mb - they are like politicians. Out of touch with reality thus their incomprehensible selections at times.

Ponting hasn't been great tactically, but he's learning.

Mind you, following Border, Taylor & Waugh is a tough gig.

Smith is tactically hopeless and purely reactive, but thrown in very young - bit like Kim Hughes I guess - just not experienced enough.
agree balmey Punter  not a natural but learning like AB and never had the captaincy experience in domestic cricket

I don't rate S Waugh as a captain. He inherited the best side i world cricket by along way. He was a bit reactive as a captain, and rarely did anything innovative. He was selfish batsman as well. to caught up in his personal statistics.
Shane warne is the unluckiest (dumbest) bloke in the side, he would have been a great skipper, he has a great cricket brain, is aggressive, and tries things. But for his off-field misdemeanours, he should have captained after Taylor.

Re: Cricket

1-172 :clap

Ponting and Haydos going right after Boje.
Chance to really set a huge total if they can keep concerntration.

Thanks Ready - gee, interesting state of play over there. Aussies would be happy atm with the state of play as it stands.

Re: Cricket

Plenty of time and South Africa still behind. Couple more wickets and they're gone, especially with no Pollock if they're defending a small total.

For those of you selecting the team at home, Martyn made 22.

Re: Cricket

Third Test, Mumbai

Rahul Dravid has won the toss and sent England in on a pitch with a bit of green tinge to it. Flintoff said he would have batted anyway. England are 14/0 early on.

England: Strauss, Bell, Shah, Pietersen, Collingwood, Flintoff (c), Jones (wk), Hoggard, Udal, Anderson, Panesar

India: Sehwag, Jaffer, Dravid (c), Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Dhoni (wk), Pathan, Kumble, Harbhajan, Sreesanth, Patel
