Interesting comment ToO as punter after loosing the toss said he would of batted if he had won the toss.
Didn't hear that Tubs but it doesn't surprise me at all after making the big mistake of bowling in the 2nd Ashes Test. Ricky's a bit gunshy after the ODI final I dare say. He's lucky he lost the toss I reckon'.

ToO - c'mon mate you dont like punter as a captain do you?????

Re: Cricket

Amazing start to the test.Kasper & Clark getting wickets.Thought I was in a dream.Terrible shot by Kallis early in his innings.Still too early to get carried away.Feel for Bracken as I reckon he deserved to be in this side.

Re: Cricket

Kaspa gets a wicket ( bloody warny initially dropped it but kicked it up off his foot and Gilly caught the bloody thing :hihi) SA in trouble at 5 for 76.

Unbelievable, your right Tuby SA in big trouble. They would be happy if they could get to 250 at the minute.

Re: Cricket

South Africa 205 all out. (SR Clark 5/55)

Ten overs left in the day and Australia are 38/1. Langer the man out.

In other news, Steve Harmison has been ruled out of the third Test in Mumbai with a shin injury.

Re: Cricket

Good effort by Aussies

Didn't see any but well done to Clark as with ToO will give credit to him as I too didnt think he should be there.

I only heard on the radio that the pitch is pretty dry and will crumble late which is why Aussies may have batted first as with SAF to avoid batting on it (remember usually they play for a draw first and then a win). Interesting though if Aussies were going to bat first I would have thought MacGill would have played.

Just another thing on the Lewis bowling last. I didnt see any so cant comment on how well he or Lee was bowling but I remember in the media a month ago when we lost couple of one dayers saying Lewis should be in the side as Australia did not have anyone to bowl at the depth like a Fleming or Waugh and Lewis did a good job of in NZL that is why maybe Punter bowled him as Lee is not as good at the tail. As I said I didnt see it but perhaps the media should remember what they were saying a month ago.

Re: Cricket

Should have been 0-66.Great restraint shown by Langer not to shove his bat up the umpire,s you know what after being given out LBW when clearly the ball was going down the leg side.

Re: Cricket

Good effort by the Aussies.Still feel there is short term gain & long term pain by playing blokes like Kasper.Regardless of what Martyn does his return to the side is a misstake. In other news Mark Waugh has asked for Trevor Hohns so be sacked.Couldn't agree more.

Tou're right Tubs. I rate him as a batsman big time but not as a captain.

Add me to that list ToO.

And me makes 3.
I still reckon Graeme Smith is perhaps the worst i've seen though.
Ponting has had an apprenticeship under two great captains in Taylor and to a lesser extent Waugh, but seems tactically naieve......
Perhaps he should apply to be the English soccer manager

Re: Cricket

2 questions:

a. why the hell is tony grieg commentating?

b. what on earth has happened to his voice?

Re: Cricket

Ponting hasn't been great tactically, but he's learning.

Mind you, following Border, Taylor & Waugh is a tough gig.

Smith is tactically hopeless and purely reactive, but thrown in very young - bit like Kim Hughes I guess - just not experienced enough.

Pity the games are on the ABC Radio - really miss Jim Maxwell, Kerry, Roebuck & Co.

I'm surprise Mark didn't push for a recall himself seeing as Martyn's been given another stab :p.
Perhaps he did?

I respect Mark Waugh's opinions.Doesn't beat around the bush. Its good someone has publically questioned the selectors selections.
