Re: Cricket

Michael Vaughan has had an "ultrasound-guided injection" and will not be returning to India, even for the one-dayers. He has to stay off his feet for two weeks and then get ready to get a few innings under his belt for Yorkshire before the first Test against Sri Lanka on 11 May.

Bichel is a bit stiff he has had to contend with a pool of good quicks through his career, and he's a good bat as well. He just always seemed to be the guy who missed out.

Good to see Langer get a start, hope he goes on and gets a score, and carries to form to Sth Africa.

They really need those quick wickets now.

And they got them! 3 to Hoggard and Panesar's first test wicket (Tendulkar). 5 in the first session. India 203 behing with 4 wickets in hand at lunch.

Great session for England.

Re: Cricket

Indeed a great session for England. Kaif hasn't been comfortable either, although Pathan has several 50s to his name. New ball in only six overs.

Re: Cricket

Tea. Kaif is leading the fightback with 61 not out, supported by Kumble who is unbeaten on 19. India are 252/7, still trailing by 141 runs.

Re: Cricket

First Test, Nagpur
England 393
India 322/9 (Kaif 91, Jaffer 81, Kumble 58; Hoggard 5/57)
India trail by 71 runs on first innings
Stumps, day three
England had to wait an awful long time as Kaif and Kumble put on a 128-run stand for the eighth wicket. The resistance was finally broken as Harmison and Panesar struck in successive overs before stumps. England will look to polish off the last wicket in the morning before setting India a chase.

Re: Cricket

SAF 0/12 off 2 overs

Jacques is in but has already dropped a chance and misfielded a ball for 4, should have picked a specialist fielder (no just kidding)

Re: Cricket

We copped a thumping out for 93 losing by 196
We were 4-7 after 9 overs
Jaques failed with 0, (get rid of him mb his not up to it ;))(just kidding he had 10 mates and desrves another chance.
Marto should have a look at safari park.

Re: Cricket

If we try to defend the World Cup with a bowling attack like last night's we'd be lucky to make the semi finals. Pathetic and extremely worrying.

As for Martyn...

That must be the worst attack to play for Australia in several decades. A huge worry.

Martyn is doing his level best to justify the selectors decision to drop him from tests.

I agree with you Captain - Gilly is on the slide and needs to drop down to the middle order.

Re: Cricket

First Test, Nagpur
England 393 and 297/3 (Cook 104no, Pietersen 87)
India 323
England lead by 367 with seven wickets in hand
Stumps, day four

England kept batting as a declaration would have seen them unable to use the quicks due to the dodgy light. But this allowed Alistair Cook to become the fifteenth Englishman to score a Test century on debut. A declaration is expected overnight, giving England 90 overs to take the ten wickets needed for victory.

Re: Cricket

Credit to England to play themselves into a strong position after a difficult 1st day.

NSW no chance to make the shield final after being thumped by Tassie inside 3 days.
