Tuby,Do you know why Ponting has not batted yet.Is he playing?

No he is not playing Mb - not sure why. But just watching the game and seeing Nelly boy bowling, gee i like the guy. Has a bit of agro and can bowl a bit. Good to see someone willing to give a bit back like the aussies have done for the past 10 years or so...

3-53 off 16.3 overs so far mate.

Re: Cricket

Gee, Nelly boy is taking it to another level in stretching lines Mb - just fielded off his own bowling and threw a full on chuck back to the batsmans end when clarke didnt even move off the line and hit him in the backside. Maybe getting a bit too cocky imo - its one thing to be confrontatial but its another thing to be a bloody idiot....

Re: Cricket

Clarke and Hussey doing well - 3 - 123 after 30 overs. Good to see the aussies steady after a rough start.

Tuby,I like Nell but he overstepped the mark.No need for that.

Re: Cricket

Clarke just gone from a soft shot off a slower ball - aussies 4 for 130 odd and I tell you what i hate these commentators. Totally crap and partial to SA.

Re: Cricket

Hussey gone now after a lofted shot and caught on the boundary - 5 for 132.....in trouble. Why go for crap shots like that when you have still got so many overs left...

Re: Cricket

Jacques stayed here & played in NSW's 1 wicket win (9-155) over S/Aust (154) in the final of the domestic one day comp. in Adelaide yesterday.Low scoring but gripping match.Tait dismissed Jacques with an unplayable ball & almost single handedly bowled SA to a unlikely win ,taking 6-41 . Both would be handy in S/Africa right now but their time will come

Re: Cricket

Jaques might find himself on a plane very soon.Might be an idea to take Cosgrove with him.

News just in,Jaques to fly out for South Africa tommorrow & join squad.Should have been in squad in the 1st place.

Re: Cricket

Marcus Trescothick has gone home from India for personal reasons. No news on Vaughan's knee. Still injury concerns with Pietersen, Collingwood and Plunkett. Into the squad are Alistair Cook (plundered Australian attack for Essex in tour match last year), Owais Shah and James Anderson. If Vaughan doesn't make it then Cook will open with Strauss and Flintoff will lead the side.

Re: Cricket

Vaughan is definitely out and now Simon Jones has done a knee.

This tour has disaster written all over it.

More interesting is Vaughan's long term future. This knee has been bothering him for quite some time now.

Since the Ashes, this team is struggling.
That's the difference between winning a series and being the number 1 side in the world over a long period I suppose.

Re: Cricket

S/African tour no picnic either if Ponting's injury should linger through the ODIs & into the Tests...Then there's McGrath's situation. Selectors edict require he play at least one shield game to be considered for the Test part of the tour.McGrath, atm, not keen to comply.Could decide to stay home with ailing wife.On opportunity perhaps for Tait but you'd need to reinforce to the bowlers that control not just something associated with Maxwell Smart...

Re: Cricket

With McGrath out we will heavily rely on Lee & Warne in test series. The selectors should give Mcgrath right up until the last minute for him to play in tests. Our future bowling stocks are very much unknown at this stage.

Take Tait he is the man for the Tests, will be Australia strike bowler after Lee.

I agree. Great classic fast bowlers effort sunday. One man wrecking ball. Reminiscent of early Thompson, not as fast I know, but an agggressive mix of unplayable balls and wides. I reckon his accuracy will improve like Thommo's did. I like him, seems our only stand out genuine young strike bowler.

Re: Cricket

Crossthwaite dropped from the Vics team bit disappointing that asd based on batting not his keeping this year.

Bit surprised by this. His replacement is a 29 year old ex NSW.Appears to have been selected because of his stong batting.
