Hodge fails again whcih has probably finished his 1 day international career.Appears wonky outside off stump & looked too tenative.Has plenty of work ahead of him to cement his test spot.

Gone (and never going to make it) mb. His test career will also stall now. Only filling in for Ponting anyway. Jaques will fill the next gap regardless of position in order.
Would like to see Jacques play but unfortunately Kattich made runs so he will survive.Watching Kattich bat is a big bore.

Why is M. Cosgrove not being consider?

The form 1 day batsman playing at the moment, he just scored 89 against the VICS!
Agree,I would bring him in & get rid of Martin.

Re: Cricket

Third Test, Karachi
India won the toss and sent Pakistan in
Pakistan 245 (Kamran Akmal 113; Irfan Pathan 5/61)
India 74/4 (Mohammad Asif 2/29)
Stumps, Day One

India lost late wickets and will rely on Ganguly and Yuvraj to build a total tomorrow. Irfan Pathan is the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the first over of a Test.

Agreed MB.Hodge is gone as far as the one dayers are concerned while there is still a very huge question mark if he,s upto Test standard.
Makes you wonder how strong the pura cup is.

Not strong enough.

Apparently a few guys on the selection commitee dont like his attitude, he has been told to lose weight & has'nt made a big enough effort. Also question marks on his fielding.

Katich is a dud MB and just batting for his own spot in the side. I cant stand him and look forward to the day he is relegated to NSW for good.
A fit Watson and the possible Jacques will greatly change the outlook of the side in the future.

A possible 12 to pick from

Gilchrist

Jacques

Ponting

Martyn

Clarke

Symonds

Hussey

Watson

Hogg

Lee

McGrath

Bracken.

Re: Cricket

Third Test, Karachi
Pakistan 245 and 173/2 (Salman Butt 53, Imran Farhat 57)
India 238 (Yuvraj Singh 45; Mohammad Asif 4/78)
Pakistan lead by 180 with 8 wickets in hand
Stumps, day two

India need to make inroads and do it quickly. Otherwise Pakistan will have plenty of time to bowl the visitors out and claim the series.

I was ecstatic to see the backs of Martyn and Katich now they are back Christ gret rid of these duds they only bat for their places in the side, Katich especially, god i cant stand him, why he is considered a one day player is beyond me, Langer and Hayden are much better than that dud.

Bring in Jaques and give Cosgrove a go to at the expense of Katich and Martyn if we are looking to the future, also consider Marcus North from WA and Travis Birt from Tassie geez he is a likely type too!!
Watsons return will spell the end for Hopes as well.

Is Dizzy gone or do you guys and girls reckon he is still a chance, cos i cant help thinking he aint done and dusted, but time will tell.
If Dizz could recapture his form and play for 2 more years or so that would be vital to the development of better bowlers for mine not to mention help halt the decline of the side with the retirements of McGrath, Hayden, Langer and Gilly primarily!

Excellent post Craig,I'm sick of Martyn & Kattich.I think Dizzy is an outside chance to tour South Africa as the Aussie 3rd quicks still haven't cemented places in the side.

Re: Cricket

Pakistan keep on playing home Tests in winter. Unfortunately between waiting for the fog to lift in the morning and the dusk coming on fast in the evening they don't get much play in.

Therefore they are going to petition the idea of six-day Tests (in Pakistan in winter only) and are trialling orange cricket balls in domestic cricket from tomorrow, with a view to using them in Tests if the light gets bad....

Re: Cricket

South Africa look to be cruising to victory against Sri Lanka.1/136 after 27 overs. In other new South African board has officially complained about Aussie crowds re racism.I hope they have their own house in order for the upcoming tour.Generally I think the Aussie crowds are good except for a minority.

Re: Cricket

Third Test, Karachi
Pakistan 245 and 511/5 (Faisal Iqbal 103no, Mohammad Yousuf 97, Younis Khan 77)
India 238
Pakistan lead by 518 with five wickets in hand
Stumps, day three

Pakistan continue batting when really they could have set a target by now. Shades of the Headingley 1993 exhibition of "mental disintegration" when Border batted on an hour longer than he had to just to rub it in. India two days to survive and draw the series.
