Cricket

Re: Cricket

Thanks for that mk33.

I gave up watching. It's beginning to have all the appearances of some Yankee game with great gaps while commercials, etc, are on. What happens, do the players have to stand around until given the signal to recommence play (like they do at the footy)?

And what's with that music?

They've lost me. Bring on real cricket!

Re: Cricket

South Africa win to add some interest to the series.Just a bad day at the office for some Aussies but I'd like to see Kattich,Hopes & Hogg out of the side immediately.Warne to come in for Hogg.

Re: Cricket

I cannot stand Katich, he is not a one day type or test player for that fact , in fact i wanna see him confined to the NSW Blues for good in all types of cricket.

DUD :p

Hey Magic Beans, guess who made a Test ton, taking 27 off an over in the process?
Ready,it was my man Afridi,Plays the game the way cricket should be played.

Re: Cricket

Gilchrist reported for dissent & judging by the footage will probably be found guilty.Certainly looks a frustrated cricketer at the moment & is sitting out next 2 one day games which will do him good.

Re: Cricket

Interesting.
Could be the beginning of the end of Gilly's ODI career although it's hard too imagine him not being there for the World Cup in '07. It is a big workload to play both forms of the game these days. Could be just the Tests pretty soon for Gilly.
Haddin is a more than handy replacement and will do a great job.

I'm sure he will be there for the World Cup in 2007 but that maybe his swansong.A couple of games off won't hurt him.

Re: Cricket

Sri Lanka 1/116 after 19 overs & in strong position against South Africa.Obviously not missing the Aussie bowlers.

Re: Cricket

Sri Lanka have a conmfortable win after a poor performance by South Africa.Kallis out of 1 day series.I still think South Africa are more likely to make a game against Aussies.Smith should have batted after winning the toss.

Exactly, South Africa still have a way to go before they become a top side.Too inconsistent.

Re: Cricket

First Test, Lahore
Pakistan 679/7 dec. (Younis Khan 199, Mohammad Yousuf 173, Shahid Afridi 103, Kamran Akmal 102 no)
India 410/1 (Sehwag 254, Dravid 128 no)
Three-Test series level 0-0

Only 2.2 overs possible on the last day due to rain and bad light. It didn't matter anyway as the pitch was a dead-set road, which would have been the scene for the highest Test opening partnership -- currently 413 by Vinoo Mankad and Pankaj Roy for India against New Zealand at Madras in 1955/56 -- if Sehwag didn't get out three runs short.

Then again, Geoffrey Boycott's grandmother could probably have been involved in a Test-record opening partnership on this ridiculous pitch. Best the record was left intact.

The next Test starts at Faisalabad on Saturday although the long-term forecast is for bad weather.

Re: Cricket

Good to see both sides playing for a win in Pakistan.
Unlike Australia they try and save the test first and then maybe win it.

Re: Cricket

Well almost half the match was lost to bad light and rain. But I don't think anyone could have taken 20 wickets on that pitch. Shoaib Akhtar and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan are not the world's greatest bowlers but they're not a popgun attack either, and it took them 77 overs to taken ONE Indian wicket.

Re: Cricket

sorry I got told Pakistan batted well into third day and didnt really attack or look for a win. You would still think they would set up a pitch to try and win.

Re: Cricket

Similar pitch conditions @ Lismore for the NSW v Victoria 4 day Shield match.

Vics 5 dec. 519 (146 overs , Arnberger 239 no) & NSW response ,44 overs, 1/221 (Jacques 109 no) close day 2 .

Kallis going home in an effort to regain fitness for the Australian tour of Sth Africa in a few weeks....

Re: Cricket

Four days in Lismore... can't think of much worse :cutelaugh

It became apparent there would be no result very early Milton Keynes, so Inzamam thought they'd pulverise the bowling a bit. That kid at your club is a big lump of a lad for 15.
