Head needs to play his natural game, he won't last a couple of overs trying to defend.

He needs to bat like a senior test batsman on a greentop.

Yeah, well. He needs to be. You can improve your technique.
Especially when he's now the countries best batsman according to some on this thread.
Best batter or just in the top 6. Whatever.
The test world has found a way to pressure him. (and Marnus). Its a step up.
Both need to improve
You can have one bloke in the top 6 who just plays his shots, usually the number 6. Marsh has a license; it's the all-rounder's privilege. Head has played a few blistering counter-attacks when we've been in trouble but he's also failed plenty. All duck or no dinner at present. Needs to tighten up and take responsibility. Number 5 is a soft spot in the order. Sometimes you are obliged to grind.
Most important. I still believe it.
One thing I know, it ain't Smith no longer. He shouldn't be playing, the opportunity should be going to someone who is part of the longer term future. All champions come to an end.
Big test for Green here, be great to see him grind out a score.
Yeah as the more senior player Head really should be stepping up and batting 4.
The best players in Australia's history have largely done that as they become entrenched.
The 24 year old coming back into the team and trying to cement his spot should get the cushier spot.
That's Head's challenge.
