Cricket

Well that’s embarrassing. Windies all out 87, Straya got them in 7 overs, game done by 5.30! Maybe they should play a T20 game this evening. I’m pretty sure they did something like that in the 70s when a game was done very quickly.
Fraser-McGurk is some talent. If he can just bring it back a touch he is going to be an unbelievable player especially in white ball cricket.

South African 3rd XI getting a right touch up from the Kiwis.
Watching SA news just then didn't get mentioned just the SA20 results in cricket ,Test cricket is dead in SA no crowds no coverage no interest sadly . There really just talking about The Africa Cup of Nations soccer atm .
Fraser-McGurk is going to be great .. still a pup atm but showing signs ..

Jeez that's sad.

Fraser-McGurk is a white ball talent but a million miles away from being a decent red ball player.

Lots to learn and a long way away in the long format.

Meanwhile Tassie continue our resurgence to win outright away to Qld and stay top of the shield ladder.

Have 3 of the top 6 run scorers and 2 of the top 5 wicket takers.

Gabe Bell is a fantastic bowler who might get his chance in coming years when Starc and Hazlewood move on.

Big tall strong and skilled. Very much in the Hazlewood and Boland mould.

135 wickets at 24 and 32 this year at 17 he deserves to be talked about more.

Siddle and Bird moving on has really helped him and the team. Spook was right ha!

Dude. Let's look at the team from that game:

Ward - from NSW
Jewell - Tas
Wakim - NSW (and 32 years old)
Silk - NSW and almost 32
Doran - NSW
Webster - Tas
Hope - WA
Owen - Tas
Freeman - Tas
Bell - Tas (great record but 28 already)
Stanlake - Qld

The Foreign Legion!

Tasmanian teams forever and a day have always been roughly a 50/50 split.

If we fielded all locals we wouldn't be competitive. It's the right balance. Wade and Meredith would also tip the scales further.

We have 9% of Victoria's population to develop. To have half the team local is actually a very good achievement.

Given the resources and talent that should be available Victoria are the ones that have long under achieved when when it comes to assisting the national team. When was the last great batsman Decades ago.

Been long left to NSW who are now handing the batton to WA.

We're busy producing most of the AFL playing cohort.

Deano should have been considered a great but had a touch of the Kim Hugheses and never got another go after being dropped despite being our leading batsman in the previous Test series, then absolutely dominating the Shield for several more seasons.

Pucovski is the best batting talent under 25 in the country. But.

Fraser-McGurk. Victorian.

Dean Jones Test Debut was 40 years ago.

Plenty of Victorian talent over the years, but they didn't play for NSW, so!!!!!

We talk about the AFL Boys Club, but it has nothing on the NSW bias in Aussie cricket.

If Jamie SIddons had been born on the other side of the Murray (or the Tasman) he might have played 100 Tests, instead of none.

Nothing like Victorians with a chip on their shoulder about NSW.

Inferiority complex runs deep on here.

Footy clubs have players from all over the country and these days so do cricket teams, whether they be red or white ball.
Who cares where they come from on the end, the key is to have a competitive and relatively even competition.
I just wish we were producing some more quality batters at the moment

If Matthew Elliott hadn't told his missus all the boys root around on tour, Justin Langer would be a footnote.

Brad Hodge made a double century in his 4th Test, was dropped and never picked again a game later, despite being clearly the best T20 batsman in the country.

The selectors just make bad calls, consistently.

I was thinking the other day about how we should have won in India in 1998 and 2001, and probably would have if we'd picked horses for courses - i.e. great players of spin Lehmann and Bevan instead of the hapless Punter and Blewett ('98) and Punter and Langer ('01). Just dumb.
