Cricket

Renshaw did bugger all for Queensland as well, but I'd rather try someone new, rather than go back to Bancroft or Harris, when Warner and Khawaja move on.
Hopefully Pucovski can stay healthy because he’s a star.

Having a look around the teams, geez there some average looking State teams getting around.

Tas look like we might sneak a win over SA.

But Tasmania's team not a patch on the teams in the golden era of the earlier this decade though.

Probably a sign of where the sports at in the country/state.
White ball game might pay the bills, but it’s changing the fabric of the game.

Having said that, first game of the World Cup - India v England - in the so called mecca of cricket, and the stadium is basically empty.

Too much cricket in general IMO.

New Zealand a good chance of getting the 283 runs that England set them, 1-111 after 14 overs.

NZ's finger spinners only took six of the nine English wickets to fall, so it's a good thing Australia didn't include a specialist finger spinner in the squad for a tournament played in the most finger spin friendly country on the planet.

I watched the women's cricket tonight. I really enjoyed watching Mathews from the Windies-she absolutely slaughted the Australian bowlers there for a while. And she was on one leg for most of the innings. Totaled 300 runs for a 3 game T20 series.

Wasn't it New Zealand v England?

Yeah, it was, sorry. Point still stands though. First game of the World Cup in front of basically nobody was pretty embarrassing.

No doubt crowds will grow the further into the tournament we go, but I think it’s indicative of the general malaise towards white ball cricket.

Didnt you see Steve Smith bowling offies against Pakistan? Was the junk Warner was bowling off spin?

Otherwise Maxwell it is.

Sean Abbott is a very good state cricketer but a waste of a spot in any international squad, especially in India. He just doesn't cut it, never has.

ODI played as T20. Indians haven't woken up yet.

Ahmedabad capacity bigger than MCG so tough to get a decent crowd in a game not involving the host nation.
Crowd, to my eyes, around 20k, respectable enough.

Better spectacle if played at a venue with capacity equivalent to the Gabba or SCG.
Only 1st game.

Surprised at the ease of NZ's win. They did well to restrict England to <300 but thought 282 would still be a challenging chase, especially without Williamson..

. Looking forward to the rest of the tournament & more surprises. Reckon we'll be battling to make semis.

Yeah agree. You boy Agar was in it until injured (he might yet come back in). They replaced him with Marnus instead of another spinner.

We'd be a better team with a spinner instead of the skipper in the team ILO.

Marnus should be in, Abbott shouldn't be. And yeah, if we wanted to play two spinners, Starc and Hoff are ahead of Cummins.

At the WACA, reckon I’ve just seen the best short leg catch I’ve ever seen, Bancroft hung onto to pearler, do yourselves a favour and have a look at it.
