Cricket

I'm in the sticks with no TV reception, so everything I watch is online. Can watch the footy on delay as-live, but cricket on 9now you have to watch as it happens or wait until they post it the next day.
Hmmm. The disadvantages of living in the commune eh ? At least you have a bunch of liberal hippy chicks to entertain yourself with like Charles Manson did don't you ? Surely ?

Channel 9 is ***'ed.

I'm taking a busload of them to Port Macquarie for the night tomorrow.

A super impressive spell from Wood, to swing the ball at 150 odd clicks is very impressive. With the stress he puts on his left foot in his delivery stride you can understand why he has had so much trouble with his ankle. Though watching last night it looks like he may have straightened his left foot a little on impact from when I last saw him bowl.
Well done to Marsh, had a bit of luck, but made the most of it and dug Australia out of a big hole. Root's dropped catch was deadset dolly. Marsh bowled well too, swung it at decent pace.

Yes, kudos to Marsh. He and his brother cop a lot but by all reports he's a ripping bloke and a much-loved teammate. He played one out of the box last night. Good on him.

And a reminder, in his previous Test, almost four years ago in the 2019 Ashes, he got a five-fa.

Watching the cricket over Richmond ? Far out. That's just Un-Australian.
I watched both at the same time, footy on Kayo, and the cricket on tv. Alternated between having the volume muted at different times on each game.

It's fine to express a different opinion, just didn't appreciate the insinuation that we're all a bunch of unsporting so-and-socialists. You might have played a lot of cricket, I don't know. But I have, so has Leysy, and so have plenty of people who agree with us. The commentators would have spoken out if they thought it was unsporting but like us they thought it was fine.

Anyway, we move on. I'll still have a beer with you at the end of the series. (Or any time.) :)
Yep play the game, not the man.

Marsh has created a brilliant headache for us. Initial thought is which batter to drop for the next test, but given that crumble after his dismissal do we drop a bowler?

I don't think we drop a bowler, Marsh is very injury prone and could ping a hammy at anytime. Neser is very handy with the bat, but not sure how he comes in, maybe for Boland, who I thought bowled well last night and looks suited to the Headingley wicket.

geez that does not bode well. Major third ump stuff up. amazing.

Stokes should have conceded the extra 2 by the spirit of cricket you'd reckon.

Stokes again proving what a hypocritical pr1ck he is. "Spirit of the Game" only when it suits the Poms.

Where are you MDJ????

I wouldn't bother TT. When given 3 examples of a batsman wandering out of the crease, not attempting a run and being stumped, MDJ considers that the Bairstow and Prior ones were totally fine, but Carey's stumping is outside the spirit of the game. Go figure.

Another unsportsmanlike show by the Australians. The slips should have gentlemanly let Bairstow's edge travel to the boundary unimpeded.

The nerve of the Aussies getting in the way of a four with their hands.

Kumar Dharmasena strikes again. Every single 50/50 he gives against Australia. 90% of 'umpire's call' DRS results with him are bad news for Australia. He would have given that out if it were Broad v Warner.

Impact in line umpires call.
If he'd stuck the finger up, we'd have stokes back in the shed.

Agreed. *smile* weak umpire.
