Cricket

That's what makes it *smile*. Weak and mean spirited, but almost all on here loved it.

We might just agree to disagree.
I think its acceptable for a keeper to grab the ball and immediately attempt a stumping / runout.
I'd be inclined to agree if the aussies were in anyway disengenuous or underhanded.
Carey took it and immediately had a ping at the stumps.i cant see how that is weak or mean spirited.
Lets move on to this next match

Wood bowled brilliantly. Very very quick and swung it. If they had Archer as well we might be in trouble.

Cummins gets his 2nd wicket, England 2-22, Richie Benaud would love it.

And the crowd goes deathly quite.

Anyway, sick of arguing against so many that enjoy disingenous corrupt cricket, normally the domain of the right that sort of behaviour but plenty of socialists revelling in it. Go figure hey?

Dunno why you don't just clock this up to a difference of opinion instead of resorting to impugning those who don't agree. Almost literally every cricketer or ex cricketer except the current English team think it was fine, so why resort to this with posters here.

I disagree. Marnus was batting out of his crease, can you not see the difference?

I'm arguing that is simply a weak spinleless way to cheat a wicket.

Dude, give it a rest, you’re sounding like the big ego defending the umpires.

Except we werent in the 1st test. Cummins Lyon won the game.

Agree on Marsh. I wouldnt have him in my side in a pink fit. Thats me wrong

So you're right and everyone else is wrong, including Mark Taylor, David Gower, Nasser Hussein, Andrew Strauss, Ricky Ponting, et al. You, Geoff Boycott and Piers Morgan. The noble upholders of fair play.
Yeh not sure I want to be in that group.

Could mount an argument that paid commentators will always be more diplomatic?

Anyway I’ll stop the whingeing and enjoy the cricket.

Poms should have rolled us for under 150, the Root drop was a disaster. That was the perfect height and speed for a good slips fielder. Root drops too many. Surprised Stokes doesn’t field there.

Its the frustrating thing for England, we just haven't been able to keep those quicker bowlers fit enough.

Wood is a very good bowler and unlike some of the others, rarely bowls no balls!! The 2 deliveries that he gave to Khawaja and Starc in particular were almost unplayable. Quick, swinging in and full.

We'd be a totally different team with Wood, Archer and maybe even with Mahmood fit for more tests. The extra pace just gives us different options from being very samey with most of the other bowlers.

Stokes has had finger issues, I believe.

Khawaja probably played too expansive a shot so early against such fast swing. He looked to drill it. Unlike him. Great nut but he could have kept it out with a less aggressive shot.

Wood and Archer would be the fastest duo in the world and a massive handful for anyone, but like racehorses, fast bowlers are brilliant but fragile beasts who put incredible forces through their legs and backs.

It's fine to express a different opinion, just didn't appreciate the insinuation that we're all a bunch of unsporting so-and-socialists. You might have played a lot of cricket, I don't know. But I have, so has Leysy, and so have plenty of people who agree with us. The commentators would have spoken out if they thought it was unsporting but like us they thought it was fine.

Anyway, we move on. I'll still have a beer with you at the end of the series. (Or any time.) :)

Interesting juncture.

How lethal is this pitch?

Based on the evidence so far, it’s hostile. Our batting lineup is too good at the moment to collapse to just anything.

Khawaja got an unplayable delivery at 150kmh and hooping in.

Smith was beaten by a little bit of movement that would’ve gotten most batsmen.

And then we must consider our penetration into the English top order.

All up, I would say we have an opportunity now to penetrate further, possibly for under 200.

Every run like gold, like a WACA test. A three day smorgasboard of boundaries and wickets.

Will Marsh’s incredible century be the match winning outlier? Can’t wait to find out.

Removing Root the absolute key.

Mitch Marsh has of course been much maligned, but that was as good a century as I’ve seen.

Yes, a chance at 12, but be capitalised like a good professional should.

The strength, the eye, the poise. I was so glad to stay up and witness that.

I chose to watch the cricket over the footy initially last night, until we were 4/65. Then I watched the footy on Kayo on delay, with an eye on cricinfo. After the footy, I turned over to the cricket with us 4/240.

TV spectators of course have no bearing on the game. But I might do us all a favour and watch the footy tonight. Or is it when I watch wickets fall? In which case, I'll watch the cricket..

I'm in the sticks with no TV reception, so everything I watch is online. Can watch the footy on delay as-live, but cricket on 9now you have to watch as it happens or wait until they post it the next day.
