Muralis action has been adjudged legal and to me that is the end of the matter. They've scrutinized it with the most advanced technology available
What a load of crap.   ::)  It shouldn't have to come down to that.  If it looks like a throw to the umpire out on the ground - then it should be judged illegal - THAT is the end of the matter.  How could it be allowed to be let go out on the ground - perhaps taking the wickets to win an important test series & then having it checked in the laboratory to show that it was illegal - too late!!!!  Like lbw's, they should be judged by the umpire out on the ground.

Yes and we all know that umpires are never wrong. Plus we also have the problem there was no unanimity amongst them, with most international umpires not having a problem so it seems with his action. Ultimately it was a mans livelihood, reputation and career that was at stake. It had to be referred up when opinions were divided and when technology was available to access his action. Personally I have no more problem with that just like I don't have a problem with technology helping with run-outs. There comes a point when all this carping sounds like simply sour grapes. Like it or not he will go down as the crickets greatest wicket taker and a champion of the game - which is fine by me.

Re: Cricket

This will be my last post for a couple of weeks - holidays yippeeeee.

Most umpires have been afraid to report him. Umpire Hair is the only one with the balls to do it.  And the suggestion that cricket followers on the sub-continent view him differently is I think just plain wrong.  The Authorities maybe but not the followers.  About a year ago I had a discussion with an Indian taxi driver who complained bitterly about his action and said he was a cheat.

You see, cricket fans the world over know what's fair and unfair.  The Authorities on the other hand play racist politics.

Meckiff - a chucker whose arm was straighter than Murali
Tony Lock - chucker who wasn't called but his action was marginally straighter than Murali

My ideal off spinning action and bowler?  Harbijhan Singh - simply beautiful to watch.

Merry Christmas.

Re: Cricket

I think Harbajhan has being called for chucking as well.

Cant wait for Boxing Day, have seats so should be a great day if weather holds up (let it rain all night though please). Is anyone else going.

Re: Cricket

No change to aussie side.
One change for the poms:In: Read Out: Jones.

Good toss to lose.

Re: Cricket

Interesting Punter mentioned he would of had a bat if he'd of won the toss. Looks like you might miss out on seeing warnie get his 700th Rosy :-\ Good day to sit back if you arent going and watch the aussies get into em early on hopfully.

Re: Cricket

Strange - hasnt rained at all Brunswick way at all this morning - bloody frustrating if it keeps raining on and off like it has been at the G in the last 40 minutes.

Re: Cricket

What a 1st ball by Mcgrath unbelievable.Too good to get a wicket.
Punter get Lee off and bring Clarke ON.

Re: Cricket

Lee is bowling Hume Highways while the bloke who bowls great ocean road stuff awaits.

Re: Cricket

Cook gone - bit unlucky trying to take the bat away from a Lee delivery. Cook was playing ok up till that time. Bell lucky not to get run out of that first ball though.

15 overs too late to introduce Clark

Agree Captain - there would of been a very good case to open up with McGrath and Clark today. As it is with the ball getting damp by the time he come on, there would be less swing by then.

Agree,Clark probably should be one of the opening bowlers from now on.

Re: Cricket

Lee,s average against the Poms is 58.Someone should tell the selectors thats his bowling ave and not his batting ave.
