Symons getting a couple of wickets will help him keep Watson out of the 4th test.Mamood in now ,never seen him bat.

Maybe MB - needs to do a bit more with the bat though-it was only one over(his last at the crease) that got him the majority of those runs yesterday.
True Tuby, but those wickets will help him.

Agree - his fielding has been excellent this morning as well i must admit.

Re: Cricket

unless jones can make a half centruty in the 2nd innings he has to be dropped...
still really angry over that terrible umpiring decision today, same happened to him at adelaide at a cruical moment....

need the technology for the decisions

Both teams get poor umpiring decisions.

England based on what we have seen so far are simply not good enough.

Agree, also they haven't got the depth to cover their injuries.

a joke of a decision to get rid of strauss, could decide the match.
Was batting well in both innings & he'll be a key if they are to save this match.Barring a miracle we will go 3-0 up.

Re: Cricket

Great batting by the Aussies today after a tight 1st session.Gilchrist's pyrotechnics
an obvious highlight but thought Clarke's knock was the standout. He seems to have learnt well from Ponting & Hussey on how to build an innings.Tough on Watson but his injury almost a blessing as the form of the middle order a telling factor in the host's position in the series to date.

This will sound a little preverse but perhaps the Aussies scored too quickly today &/or Ponting a little too generous with the declaration.550+ lead should be enough but, improbable as the Adelaide victory was at the same stage of that test, there's enough time for that total to be run down. Were I Ponting,I would have batted out the day & then had further hit for an hour or so on day 4 for a lead of 650+ to erase any unlikely prospects of an English victory.Never give a sucker a chance & it's often harder playing for a long stretch merely to survive when there's no chance of winning.Still, should be able to conjour 9 good balls inside the next 2 days to regain the Ashes.

Re: Cricket

Question now is will the game go into the 5th day.I'd say very little chance so by tonight we will have ashes back.Hayden has saved his position for the time being but I hope selctors tap him on the shoulder at the end of series & say thats it.Time for Jacques to come in.Clarke has cemented his spot,Symonds is not a test batsman & Watson has broken down again & he's finished for the summer.

Agreed MB.Can see a few who will have played their last Test series and will retire from Test Cricket after the 5th test.
Hayden & Langer.[No more international duties]
Mcgrath & Gilchrist.[Will play on until the world cup then retire]
Changing of the guard is well on its way.

Re: Cricket

As long as he gets A wicket per test he,s safe.

maybe the selectors pick him for his celebrations after his WICKET.

i just cant see any value playing him with the likes of tait or johnson waiting in the wings to play test cricket

Re: Cricket

Sadly for Tait unless he moves to NSW and to a lesser extent Qld he.ll always be the "next in line".

Re: Cricket

as much as i hate saying this i want this to be a draw as i am going to days 1 and 3 of the boxing day test and i would like the series to still be alive

Re: Cricket

Pretty tough day in the field for the aussies today and to the poms credit they've kept the aussies out so far in terms of wickets (only 1 so far today). They could still be in this match i reckon - just my opinion but if they dont lose another wicket today and head in tomorrow with only 300 odd left to get then they are in with a big chance.

I honestly would of given a few more players a chance today to bowl - maybe a Symonds or Clarke for a few overs, even a ponting for a few overs just to break up the monotomy of the likes of mcgrath (who doesnt look like doing anything), clark and warnie. Too one dimensional so far today by the aussies imo.

Re: Cricket

Went to the G today and very impressed with Andrew Mc Donald. He made 150no and looked the goods. D. Hussey smashed em too.

McDonald bowls well, hits the deck hard. Could be a chance for the world cup.

Jaques went for bugger all in the first over.
