Re: Cricket

Aussies 0 fa 27 with both Langer and Hayden coming out from the geco and playing some really attacking shots. Ball moving around a bit at times but the poms just arent getting the line right atm and why you would start with only two slips there initially has me a bit confused. They could of had Hayden early if they went in with 3 slips.

Interesting to see if we can muster a decent score with no contribution from Punter.

Should open up the way for Hussey, Langer, Pup to have a decent go at the crease. Even a Symonds might get his big chance (now i must run before a decent barage of fowl internet abuse comes from Thailand..... :hihi :hihi). Only jokin ToO.

Re: Cricket

Gee, interesting times - Langer bowled by Panesar (played inside the line) for 37. Aussies 3 fa 69 at lunch. Poms managed to really keep the aussies in check especially after ponting going. Harmison - 7 overs and 1 fa 9 bowled well as well and Hoggard 1 fa 30 odd off 8 overs.

Re: Cricket

Watching it with sound down at work Tuby, is Monty getting any turn.
Was there much bounce or variation for Harmison. Hoggard looked to be swinging a bit early.

Intersting times hopefully makes for an interesting match.

JL be disappointed at his last test at the WACA.

Not much turn there really at all mk. Harmison, generally looks like a new man the way he's bowled today and was lucky not to get Langer earlier as he edged the ball to Flintoff's right hand at second slip but he put him down (fairly hard chance but the aussies take those sort of chances).

The poms really worked themselves back into the match with some better bowling in the second half of that session. They were just not getting their line right but once they did they dried up our runs which created pressure for our guys.

The pressure really is on Pup, Symonds and Gilcrist now to make a go of things - ofcourse with Hussey who mind you only has 2 off 36 balls faced. Yep thats how tough the poms have made things just recently.

Definitely is interesting times mate - now get back to work.... :hihi :hihi

Re: Cricket

Third test needs to be a draw or heaven forbid a win to the poms. Bring on Boxing Day.

Re: Cricket

Looks like we were trying to win the test in the first session with Hayden and Langer batting like a 20/20 game.
Dodgy LBW for Pointing, must have missed that memo about LBW being changed to include the 3 foot over/around leg stump.

Re: Cricket

England are looking the goods, but we'll wait and see till they bat.
If the poms get up here in this test. It'll make the series interesting.

Hayden's gotta go though....He's past it, If he fails in the second innings questions will be asked.

With Ponting it's a square up from the previous test when he should have been given out on 70.
Batsmen & Bowlers win test matches....not umpires.

Re: Cricket

A very disappointing performance by the Aussies. Let's hope we can rectify the situation and roll the Poms for 200.
But the other big points are how long do we persist with Hayden, Symonds and Gilly? I love Gilly but by gee he has been absolutely woeful with the bat over the last 18 months (bar the ton against the Bangers but that doesnt count). He still has some tickets to hand in and wont be dropped soon but come the end of the summer who knows? Hayden has been very ordinary and getting starts but not going on with it. Symonds showed why he's a good one day player.

NB Hodgey, get the pads ready for the Boxing day test!

Brett Lee 11 runs off the first over of the innings. :frustration

He's another living off borrowed time. Everyones going on aobut McGrath but Lee has been worse.

Re: Cricket

This should be a great test. Warne may well rue dropping Collingwood. I'm all for an Aussie win - but the poms are a bloody good team and were never going to lie down. If the aussies can't break through early tomorrow this pitch will flatten out and the poms may well rack up a matchwinning score. But then again ...

How close are we to saying Fletcher may well have lost the Ashes at the selection table now?!

Re: Cricket

Didn't see alot of the play yesterday.Great innings by Hussey. It shows Ponting & Hussey are the keys to our abatting even though Ponting missed out yesterday.Hayden under the pump & Langer & Clarke made reasonable scores.Symonds flashy 26 but had his chance to build an innings but went out to an ordinary ball.McGrath's decision terrible but likely to be more bad decisions with these 2 umpires.Game evenly poised at this stage.Strauss looks to be in good form so we would want to get him out early today.
