Flintoff on the attack nearly out caught & bowled by Lee & next ball skied one over covers.Living dangerously.

Going for the win, clearly. Hah hah hah hah.....
Being 2-0 down Skipper don't think the Poms have much choice. They have to go for the win.Flintoff has raced to 29

Re: Cricket

If they reach 400 with the same two in its fair to say Punter will be :nailbiting :nailbiting :nailbiting.Crickets a funny game

Re: Cricket

Flintoff bowled by Warne for 51.Good innings but Warne is a clas sbowler who has done the job again.Poms will fall well short of the 550 required.Jones now in & is badly out of form.

Re: Cricket

Poms would still lose if we gave them 3 innings.
Warney's a genius.
Both Clarke and McGrath are better than any pommy bowler
Lee?  Look at his average against the poms (all series) - over 40.  Should be rested Tait given a crack.

Give Johnson a go before Tait.

Re: Cricket

Ponting's declaration will prove to be spot on.Poms need to bring in another bat.Pietersen left to bat with the tail again.Jones will be ditched after making a pair.

Bullsh*t. He put us in a position where there was the possibility we could lose when he didnt have to.

Rubbish,The early wicket of Strauss was important.Nothing to gain by batting side going in just before stumps only the bowling side.Poms were never going to get 550.No depth in their batting.

Re: Cricket

Poms are playing with 10 men. Their 5th bowler is a waste of space. Should have selected a 6th specialist batsman and batted Freddie at 7.

Spot on,another reason why they were never going to make 550.

Geez you're speaking some garbage.

At 3-261 with Cook in the 100’s and Pietersen batting well, there was a chance for England.

At 5-366 with Pietersen still in and Flintoff going crazy and England just needing another 200 runs over most of the day, again there again was a chance for England. All on a pretty good wicket to boot.

Ponting could have batted another hour or so in that second innings and made a draw the ONLY possible result for England. As it was, he didn’t do that, and that’s bad captaining to be leaving a side a sniff, no matter how small.

This is just plain wrong. The best way to get wickets on a flat track is to give the opposition a sniff of victory. They will attack and lose wickets in the process - just like flinstone did today.

IMO punter got it wrong - he declared too late - 500 was heaps. 475 was plenty. 557 was risking a draw.

Nup. You're plain wrong because unless you’re in the Pura Cup and each team is looking for bonus points, the first thing you do when you declare is to make sure that you cant lose the match. Especially in this case when you’ve got a 2-0 lead in the Ashes !!! Geezuz !! That’s just a no-brainer and captaincy 101 stuff ! And Ponting did not do this.
