Lara is batting magnificently. Just a joy to watch in full flight.
Agree, has copped a couple of bad decisions this series but was lucky today with a Symonds lbw appeal but made most of his luck & slayed the Aussie attack.Aussies definitely need a 3rd quick.

Re: Cricket

It's happening again today, shocking umpiring decisions going against the away team. In Sarwan's case I reckon you could have put another one or two stumps against the leg stump and the ball still would have missed. One of the worst LBW decisions I've ever seen. Smith also hit the ball and was given LBW. Atleast Bravo and Ramdin are putting up some resistence.

Terrible umpiring again.Time for the 3rd umpire to be given more decisions.Sarwon was batting well & to have his innings cut short by such a woeful decision is disappointing.

Ramdin got a shocker as well.

Re: Cricket

They only good thing going for the umpires is they're neutral....

Anyhow, 'Bravo' Bravo ! Well played . Incredulous he wasn't selected for the 1st test. Shame the W Indies couldn't kick on a little more after tea.181 target no 'gimme' but probably 50-100 runs short ,being the Hussey-MacGill partnership .Well bowled Warne + Lee.

Re: Cricket

Aust should wrap up test today but Windies can count themselves very unlucky with 3 poor decisions yesterday.Hopefully Hodge can get a few.

Yes,the locals should win but handy if Hodge can make a score today,if not stay 'n.o', to boost his stocks particularly as Clarke has responded in good fashion to his demotion with an unbeaten century v QLD at the SCG....

Symonds has done little wrong but reckon there's more of a need for a front line bowler who can bat rather than batsman who bowls a bit.He did ok as first change bowler but admit I cringed that he was put in that position. Then again,Gilchrist underperforming may create the need for Symonds batting.

See McGrath is being rested from the ODIs in NZ but Gilchrist touring.Last 3-4 months may be testimony that Gilchrist needs a breather too, especially as keeping is the most demanding position in the field.

Notice Boucher back in the fold in S/Africa but previous incumbent kept as a batsman.Should something similar be done with Gilchrist,in ODIs perhaps,to stave off burnt out,or would he be a 'passenger'....Does he need to choose Test v ODI for longevity/perfomance or have that decision made for him,ala Hayden & Martyn ?

Re: Cricket

Hodge out for 23 which means a disappointing test for him as he got a start in both innings. With Hussey's great form Hodge would now rank behind him but I would think Symonds is in some sort of danger & is in need of a big score.Still don't think the structure of the side is right & a 3rd quick should be in the side & would need to be there for the 1st test against South Africa.

MB
Both Dizzie and Kasper are ready to go.
Drop Symmonds a=until he gets a haircut and add a front line bowler

Re: Cricket

Hodge & Hussey (obviously) deserve to keep their places for the visit of the S/Africans,the Perth test (16-20 Dec) at the very least.

Don't think it matters much what Symonds does with the bat. He,like a few others, are 'a Doug Walters type' (nothing wrong with that) but unfortunately what's sought is more 'a Gary Gilmour'/'Alan Davidson'....May be better to play the extra bowler & see if Warne + Lee share/develop batting contributions. Interesting if Dizzy + Kaspa will be considered ahead of Bracken, who did well in Brisbane & an unlucky 12mth man since. Also been steady at Shield level as part of an attack that has carried on before it but his elder contemporaries have picked up some impressive hauls in the last week.

Clarke's cracked an unbeaten double ton v QLD .Well done him but suggest he needs to score regularly away from the SCG (the scene of his only other innings of note this season) to seriously merit a recall. The NZ trip, even though ODI,will be very important.

Well done to hi. Can't ask for more than that. If he scores a couple more like that he'll be back in the test side soon enough.
I'd hope young Clarke goes about it in the right way. There's no doubt he has the talent. He's still the brightest young prospect Australian Crcket has. Just needs to some more maturity and I'm fairly certain he'll be a great player for Australia for many years.

Re: Cricket

The Pakis are showing that the Poms don't like swing bowling. So I think we have to get Bracken into the team and settle him in before the Poms come here next summer. Bracken is one of the few Aussie Bowlers who can genuinely swing the nut.

Saw Bracken bowl against the world 11 at the dome & he was hit to level 3 stands regurlarly. If he's the answer to getting back the ashes then we are in trouble.

Wonder what Terry Alderman is up to these days?

Alderman would be very handy now.
